Coco Avant Chanel – Coco Chanel Film Update

Last year we told you that a film based on the life of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanela™的姑姑阿德里安娜 was in the works with Audrey Tautou cast as the fashion icon. The mysterious film set for release next year has a name: 可可先鋒香奈兒, which translates roughly to Coco Before Chanel, is the back story to Chanel’s life before she became an internationally recognized designer. 英國版Vogue雜誌 spoke to Tautou recently about her role and she stated:

I’m very happy with the script because it is about her youth and the elements which tell us what she would become and why her style is what it is today. . . . It gave me the freedom to be between the image of what people think about her [Chanela™的姑姑阿德里安娜] but also her before her success.

I can’t say enough how I think Audrey Tautou is the perfect actress for this role. This film can’t come out soon enough!

Chanel Mobile Art Museum

A few months back, we told you about Chanel’s Mobile Art Museum, a traveling pavillion made to house art exhibits, and we’re excited to say that last week it touched down in Tokyo, Japan. The museum houses original works paying homage to the iconic Chanel quilted purse and includes works by: Blue Noses, Daniel Buren, David Leventhal, Fabrice Hyber, Leandro Erlich, Lee Bul, Loris Cecchini, Michael Lin, Nobuyoshi Araki, Pierre & Gilles, Sophie Calle, Soju Tao, Stephen Shore, Subodh Gupta, Sylvie Fleury, Tabaimo, Wim Delvoye, Yang Fudong, Yoko Ono, and Y. Z. Kami. The most important work of the show however is the actual museum designed by Zaha Hadid. The museum looks like it’s touched down from outer space and is very curvy, and features a loop design. It’s the first travelling museum of its kind. Future stops for the museum include New York, 倫敦, Moscow and Paris. If you are in one of these cities, or are close to one, 這是一個明確的必須看!

Chanel at Dover Street Market

For the first time ever, Chanel will be available at Dover Street Market and feature limited edition pieces, as well as a selection of iconic pieces from the Chanel collection. The Chanel products are showcased in ephemeral boutiques on five of the six floors, showcasing an edited selection of Ready to Wear, 飾品, and shoes from the unique Metiers d’Arts Paris-Londres Collection. Chanel will be available at Dover Street Market beginning today through June 25th. I especially love the Karl Lagerfeld cut-outs in the boutique – I want one!! 不幸的是, I don’t think they are for sale.

I finally had the chance to hear Irina Lazareanu (the model) sing after hearing about her band so much in fashion magazines (she is singing in the videos and provided music for the runway show). I don’t think she sounds very good – she needs to clear her throat because there’s a frog stuck in it. Some people should just stick to taking pretty pictures.
