The nominees have been announced for the 12th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards and not surprisingly, Catherine Leterrier was nominated for her work in Coco Before Chanel. The specific category is “Excellence in a Period Film” and though I haven’t seen the other films in the category, I think she should win. It’s a very difficult task to do the costumes for the most iconic person in fashion history and I think she met the challenge. The Award ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Chanel Imprints – The New Branding
I saw this over on Refinery 29 – I love Chanel – even the idea of temporary tattoos. But this, I’m not sure I can get down with. It’s like a designer version of pillow marks on your cheek after you fall asleep on a crease. Thank goodness, it’s just a concept done by an art student, Ryan McSorley at Central Saint Martins, for a product design class. It’s clever and unique, but I don’t think Chanel would ever release something like this.

Chanel Bags on Fashionphile.com
Chanel bags are as pricey as they come – believe me, I know, I’m still saving up for my first! I want my first bag to be a pristine and brand new black 2.55 Reissue in lambskin (or vintage from the 50s or 60s when Mlle. designed it herself), but that doesn’t stop me from visiting Fashionphile.com every so often to check out what they have in store.
Fashionphile sells gently used luxury items from Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermès among others. They guarantee the authenticity – which is great – because other sites like ebay scare me.
Today, I needed my daily does of Chanel and I spotted some bags on Fashionphile that I would love to own – my favorite being the pearl evening bag – so perfect in it’s simplicity and so very Chanel!

Take It From A Chanelphile, Graffiti’s For Chumps
The Chanel boutique on Spring Street in Soho, NYC was tagged by a kid with pink spray paint. Don’t get me wrong, I love graffiti and street art but this is just dumb. It doesn’t look good, you can’t even make out a tag – it’s just a kid making a mess. It’s going to take a lot more than some pink spray paint to make those window displays look bad!
