Chanel No.5 at the Musée d’Orsay, Paris

Starting January 6, the exterior of Paris’ Musée d’Orsay will be graced with the silhouette of the iconic Chanel No.5 bottle.  The image of the flacon measures 2,890 square feet and is covered with 1,200 handmade sequins.  Dazzling!

Chanel Milano: “La Passegiata”

On December 16, Chanel celebrated the re-opening of their boutique in Milano at Palazzo Morando.  To mark the occasion Chanel hosted a soiree – La Passegiata – “a dreamlike journey that shed new light on the materials, figures, symbols, colors, codes and coveted objects created by Chanel.”

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Bags

The most iconic of all women’s purses, the Chanel flap bag, would make a lovely gift for any occasion.  Though the flap bag in black leather is the most classic and elegant option, Chanel issues many bags each season.  Some bags are trend driven colors or fabrications of the 2.55 bag that match the current collection, others are new silhouettes.  From cassette tape clutches to ice cube bags, the ingenuity of Chanel bags is never ending.  If the bags are beyond your budget, you can start small with leather goods like wallets.  You can’t go wrong with quilted black calfskin…

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Sport

You can’t get anything with the double-C’s on it – but you can get ALMOST anything with the Chanel logo on it!  Each season, Chanel produces a fun sports item to go along with its collection.  Past favorites include a fishing reel, guitar case and bicycle.  Made for truly those who have money to burn, (or are fashion/sports fanatics) you can add to your Chanel collection by rounding it out with some sports items.  From surfing to skiing, from tennis to basketball, you can play in style with Chanel sports accessories.

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Glasses

Chanel glasses are another one of those “gateway” products – they’re relatively easy on the wallet and are a great introduction to the brand.  Producing both sun and optical glasses, Chanel glasses always finish off a look with elegance.  They have frames that are very classic and simple and they also release frames that are over the top complete with fantasy fur.  The kind of frames you get are up to you.  I myself have been known to buy Chanel sunglasses and convert them into optical glasses.  Don’t be afraid to be creative.  But, be advised, the Chanel boutiques get exclusives that department stores and Sunglass Huts don’t sell and boutique exclusives go fast.  I’m especially loving the simple aviator frames with chain detail – so classic but with a very Chanel twist!

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Watches

What time is it? It’s time to get Chanel!!  Chanel watches are some of the most gorgeous watches I have seen.  From the feminine Camelia watches, to the Art Deco 1932 series, from the delicate Première to the oft-imitated ceramic J12, Chanel watches are some of the most, uniquely beautiful watches around.  These lovely timepieces don’t come cheap and are expensive as they are gorgeous.  I don’t foresee myself getting one of these – ever – but they will forever be on my wish list!

12 Days of Christmas: Chanel Fragrances

Chanel is perhaps most well known the world over for fragrances – especially Chanel No. 5.  Still a best seller, Chanel No.5 makes a beautiful gift.  I especially love visiting department stores and Chanel.com because they have lovely fragrance gift sets that come with a fragrance (perfume or eau de toilette usually) along with body cream or gel.  In addition to Chanel No. 5, there’s a host of scents that are sexy and feminine including Coco, Coco Mademoiselle, Allure, Chance and No. 19.  I especially love Les Exclusifs de Chanel (only available online or in Chanel boutiques) or the Chanel No. 5 new purse sprays (available online) – a cute stocking stuffer!  All of the items pictured above can be purchased on Chanel.com.
