Carine Roitfeld is making an encore appearance as Chanel ad campaign stylist. She’s teamed up again with Karl Lagerfeld to style the Chanel spring-summer 2012 ad campaign. Lagerfeld said the campaign is “all about athletics and the sea.…It’s very modern sportif and in black-and-white.” The campaign was shot at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc (where the Chanel Cruise 2011/12 collection was shown) in Antibes, France with Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls featured in the ads. I can’t wait to see these images. The ads that Carine Roitfeld styled for Fall were so creative I’m looking forward to see what this dynamic duo came up with next!
I just came across some images of the Chanel Christmas 2011 Accessories collection and I’d be happy to find any of these items in my Christmas stocking or under the tree. The collection features leather goods in a lavender leather, accessories in a muted color palette of lavender, grey and ivory and items in signature black and white. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I’m partial to anything with pearls or in black – Santa, I hope you’re listening! The collection will be in stores in December so start saving your pretty pennies or start dropping those hints
Something tells me Coco would not approve – on so many levels…. It saddens me to see the Chanel logo bastardized by fake inflated boobs. Coco Chanel is now rolling in her grave.
I love inanimate object costumes – so why not dress up as a Chanel 2.55 purse? Apparently, that is a thing. I’m not sure how many you need to see to make it a thing, but I did a quick google search and I think I came up with enough images to deem it a “thing.” This costume requires a bit more DIY knowledge than the Karl Lagerfeld or Coco Chanel costumes. You’ll either need to know how to sew or know someone who sews. Either way, these costumes are awesome. I wonder if anyone has dressed up as a bottle of Chanel No.5?
Last week, I showed you how you could put together a Karl Lagerfeld costume for Halloween. Now, here are some tips for putting together a Coco Chanel costume. The best part about a Coco Chanel costume is that you can definitely incorporate these pieces into your existing wardrobe – if you are a Chanelphile chances are you may already have some of these pieces in your closet. Now, if I were a rich girl, all of the items of the costume would be authentic Chanel. Fortunately for those of us with smaller budgets, every brand does their own rendition of the Chanel 2.55 bag, boucle tweed jacket, Verdura cuff, ballet flat and much more.
I selected three of my favorite looks from different times in Coco Chanel’s life – each of the looks are different though there is a consistency in the ease and elegance of each look. Some things are constant throughout: cigarettes, pearls, red lipstick, a bobbed haircut, while the apparel is dictated more by the era – twenties, thirties and sixties. I love all of these looks I don’t know which I would choose – you could always do a different era each year. Happy Halloween!
Have you seen Fashion Hunters? It’s a new show on Bravo about the inner workings of designer consignment shop Second Time Around. On last night’s episode, a woman brought in a Chanel bag that she bought at a garage sale for $10! How do you sell a Chanel bag for $10??? Even if you don’t know what it is – which is crazy since the Chanel logo is one of the most recognized in the world – just the quality of the bag, materials and workmanship would make that work more than $10! I need to start going to garage sales…
Sexy or sweet? Coco Chanel knew that you couldn’t box a woman into a category, rather, she was a package of mysteries. Being a master seductress, Coco Chanel knew the power of appearance and elegance down to her silk pajamas.
Affinitas Intimates has offered to giveaway two sets of the Natalie Chemise and Hipster to each of the MISS Omni Media websites! Affinitas Intimates are made of fine, soft materials sourced from all over the world, Affinitas ensures you can wear any piece from the line – be it all day…or just for a few minutes! And, unlike all the Chanel you are saving up for, Affinitas is affordable.
For the giveaway, I selected the Natalie Chemise and Hipster because I loved the simplicity of the black and white and I felt that it had a bit of an Art Deco feel to it – something Coco Chanel herself might wear. To win the Natalie Chemise and hipster here’s what you’ll need to do:
3. Leave a comment on the La Chanelphile Facebook page with your twitter handle so we can confirm that you did steps 1 and 2.

In June I posted about a limited-edition set of Chanel books published by Assouline complete with a quilted leather Chanel slipcase. Assouline is releasing another limited-edition set of Chanel books – in an edition of 30 – but this time the slipcase is a Chanel tweed. The set with Chanel tweed slipcase will retail for $2,500 each and will be sold at Assouline boutiques and website, in addition to being included in the Neiman Marcus’ Christmas selection. What a gorgeous addition to a Chanel book collection, no? At that price though, I think I’d rather have a Boy bag or some jewelry.
For Summer 2012 Chanel is releasing the perfect bag to bring along to the pool or the beach – the Chanel Cabas Eté. The bag is perfect for poolside sessions because there is no leather on the bag, instead, ribbon is woven through the chain and the bag is cotton canvas. The faded colors already look sun-drenched and summer ready – perfect for your fun in the sun. The Chanel Cabas Eté bags will be in Chanel boutiques starting in February 2012.
