Fashion In The Streets: Chanel Sightings in San Francisco & The Alameda Point Antique Faire

I’ve been sitting on these photos for some time, I must admit that I see a lot more Chanel on the streets but I don’t walk around with my camera and/or phone out all the time so most of the time the Chanels just walk on by… But sometimes, I get lucky like I did at the Alameda Point Antique Fair.  It’s hard to know what faux or not – some are definitely fake, and some I just don’t know but I like seeing anything Chanel inspired….

Likely real.

Very likely real.

Faux, but really cute.

If they’re piled on the floor, I’m guessing they’re fake.

I also saw some gems in San Francisco like the blue purse, metallic ballet flats and the very fake (but very funny) sweat shirt…

Flashback Friday: Chanel Fall-Winter 1992/93 Ready-to-Wear

As a true Chanelphile, I love Chanel through the ages. From original Chanel designs, to current designs by Karl Lagerfeld I want it all. I especially adore the early Karl Lagerfeld years (he started designing for Chanel in 1983) of the 80s and 90s. When I have more disposable income it will go to acquiring more vintage Chanel from this time period. Until then, I’ll watch videos of the old collections and dream…

Chanel Hosted 7th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Artist Awards Program Dinner

Earlier this week Chanel hosted the 7th Annual Tribeca Film Festival Artist Awards Program Dinner; you may remember that I posted a short video a few days ago showcasing the artist awards.  To commemorate the program, Chanel hosted a private dinner in NYC at Odeon with some very fancy people in attendance including Robert De Niro, Alexa Chung, Kanye West, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Jen Brill, Karlie Kloss, Leigh Lezark, Poppy Delevingne, and Cindy Sherman. And of course, many wore Chanel – see some highlights of the arrivals below. I have to say that I’m loving the floral backdrops to the rec carpets we’re seeing lately (we saw a rose covered wall at the Chanel-sponsored MOMA benefit).

Summertime de Chanel Official Swatches

sumertime de chanel 2012

I just received an update from Chanel with the official campaign shot (I love the bathing suit!) and color swatches from the Summertime de Chanel makeup collection.  Here’s how Chanel describes the collection:

As longer days and warm, breezy nights herald the start of summer, Chanel embraces the season and all the vibrant makeup hues it inspires. In the Summer 2012 Collection, SUMMERTIME DE CHANEL, Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, replicates the natural glow of sunbathed skin with luminous bronze, gold and copper tones. Playing up a radiant complexion: season-perfect lip shades, from fresh pastels to bright corals.

Chanel Sponsors Tribeca Film Festival Art Awards

Patronizing the arts is in the Chanel brand DNA stemming back to the days of Coco Chanel and the Ballets Russes.  One of the current art projects that Chanel partners with is the Tribeca Film Festival.  This year, the festival awards are works of art themselves which will be exhibited and then awarded to eleven winners.  The eleven works of contemporary art are introduced in a preview video by Scott Thrift which you can view below…

Leigh Lezark Interview on Into the Gloss

leigh lezark chanelThere’s an interview of Leigh Lezark up on Into the Gloss with great images of her apartment. She has some great Chanel treasures around which I would assume are the spoils of earning the coveted title “Les Fidèles de Chanel.” I also love the little touches like using a Chanel ribbon to hold back her drapes. Read the interview on Into the Gloss…

Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 Eyewear Collection

chanel spring summer 2012 eyewear collectionChanel released it spring-summer 2012 eyewear collection to much fanfare with ad campaign images featuring Linda Evangelista and with photos by Karl Lagerfeld.  For the past few years, Karl Lagerfeld has relied on the Code of Chanel such as pearls, matelassé (quilting) and chains woven with leather.  For spring-summer 2012, rather than relying on a signature Chanel code, Karl Lagerfeld put together a strong collection of glasses with pops of color.  Bright reds, yellows, turquoise and pale pink lighten up an otherwise traditional palette of black and tortoise shell.  View the new collection, including boutique exclusives in the gallery below.  Click to enlarge the first image and scroll through – enjoy!
