Flash Back Friday: My New Vintage Chanel Finds

vintage chanel mini bag and bow pin

Earlier this week I met with a vintage Chanel dealer that happens to live just a few towns over – many thanks to Liz Baca of The Goods! for the referral! I took many photos of the products she has for sale and I’ll be doing a full post next week but for now I just wanted to give you a sneak peek of some of her goodness.

I got a great deal on two of my favorite pieces that I saw there – a mini vintage Chanel bow pin and a mini vintage Chanel bag. You may not be able to see the scale from the photos but the pin is about the width of a US quarter and the bag is just wide enough to hold my iPhone. They are so adorable! I’ve wanted a mini bag to add to my collection and now I have one! I also won’t be so afraid to use the bag because it’s already gently used :)

You can find more on Fabi*s Finds ebay store or contact Fabienne directly at Fabicray@aol.com or FabiCraycraft@gmail.com. You can follow Fabienne on Twitter @FrenchFabi.

Karl by Karl Lagerfeld at Selfridges – Photos

karl lagerfeld selfridges

The KARL by Karl Lagerfeld pop-up store in Selfridges opened earlier this week and I found images of Karl Lagerfeld’s “Team Karl” Olympics-inspired collection. KARL took a very tongue-in-cheek approach and tees have graphics of gold medals and torches – all emblazoned of course with Lagerfeld’s profile. My absolute favorite part of the collection are the collars – they are bedazzled and covered in lace and even come in the color of the medals – gold, silver and bronze. Very fun! I also especially love the KARL camo leather jacket – I want it now!! Enjoy the pics and hopefully some of these pieces will make it on to the KARL website or to the New York shop.

Oh, and just a reminder…if you want to try and make your own collars check out my KARL-inspired DIY collar post.

An Inside Look at Chanel’s Covent Garden Pop-Up Store

Chanel Covent Garden Pop Up Store

In the past two weeks I’ve posted about Chanel opening up a pop-up store in Covent Garden and now that the store is open I was able to find some images online of the boutique. The Chanel Covent Garden boutique boasts a nail bar, makeup stations where you can get makeovers and cosmetic vending machines coming in the fall.

Chanel Covent Garden Pop Up Store

Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Eldridge of the Chanel makeup video tutorials will drop by in December to give makeup lessons and nail artist extraordinaire Sophy Robson will be at the nail bar. You’ll find the store stocked with the Chanel cosmetics range including hard-to-find limited edition collections. The Chanel Covent Garden boutique is open now through December 2012 – to learn more about upcoming events visit the Chanel Covent Garden website.

KARL by Karl Lagerfeld at Selfridges – Video

Yesterday was the launch of the KARL pop-up shop within the Selfridges department store in London, just in time for the Olympics. I found this video online that details the opening, has some Karlisms and interviews with KARL fans and you get a glimpse of the festivities which included KARL macaroons and a KARL flag. See the fun for yourself…

Do As Karl Lagerfeld Does – Karl’s Top Spots in Paris, St. Tropez and Monaco

karl lagerfeld st. tropez
Karl Lagerfeld is a tastemaker extraordinaire and if you were wondering where Karl likes to sleep, eat, shop and play, now you can follow in his footsteps. Lagerfeld lists his favorite places in Paris, St. Tropez and Monaco. Start your checklist now – maybe if you’re lucky you’ll see Uncle Karl at one of these places…

Paris

Restaurants

La Société
“We needed a new place in Saint-Germain, the brothers Costes created it and Alex runs it to perfection.”

Orient Extrême
“You can eat outside when the weather is nice, and it’s just the ideal food for me! ”

La Maison du Caviar
“If you love caviar (which I do), do not bother to go elsewhere. But the crab and salmon are also unique. People also love cheesecake and strudel (I am not entitled to these wonders). George and his team make it a unique place, very Champs Elysees … in the best sense. ”

Café de Flore
“Without the Flore, Saint-Germain would not (or anymore) be Saint Germain. This is THE most excellent left bank café.”

Nightlife

The VIP Room
“This is my nightclub in Paris (as in Saint-Tropez) and I love the restaurant and its decor. Jean Roch knows his job … and friends … ”

Shopping

Colette
“Because of Mme Colette, whom I admire, and her daughter Sarah. This is shopping as an art form. You are so well received here, and you can feel the current wave of fashion, music and other objects. ”

Le Bon Marché
“The name is ironic, but considering the quality of what they sell, it is effectively good value. ”

Lachaume
“Since the lovely Caroline and her sister took over after their grandmother, the flowers are even more beautiful. ”

Saint Tropez

Restaurants

Sénéquier
“It’s the heart of Saint-Tropez. I like it even more since the Chanel fashion show we held there. ”

The VIP Room and its restaurant La Gioia
“It’s Saint Tropez in the evening and night. Dining out in the garden is a dream. The food is everything I love: simple. But it’s also my favorite club, especially when Double A (Alexandre Arnault) is DJ! And this is where Baptiste Giabiconi (model discovered by KL – ed.) made a splash this summer with his first song which is not even out yet on the market! ”

Le Quai Joseph
“The place to be. ”

The Banh-Hoi
“My favorite restaurant after La Gioia of my friend Jean Roch. But the Banh Hoi-has a unique cuisine. And I love dining out in that narrow street with little traffic. ”

Le Club 55
“A classic, but I love the restaurant, its ambience and friendly boss.

Parfum

Trupheme
“Ideal in the genre, the staff is aware of everything. And you can find everything there. ”

Hotel

La Réserve
“Especially the spa, gym – which are always adored by my guests – and the restaurant: this is an ideal place. Perfection! It is at a hundred meters from the house that I rent in this divine enclosure. I’m perfectly happy and safe. It’s Fort Knox! ”

Monaco

Restaurants

Yoshi
“The restaurant of the Hotel Metropole which is, for me, the best Japanese on the Riviera. By Robuchon. ”

La Vigie
“The table of the Monte Carlo Beach: for me, it represents Monte Carlo. Moreover, in this place, I love everything: the Monte Carlo Beach, the pool, the hotel, the cabins … ”

Le Grill
“The panoramic restaurant on the top floor of the Hotel de Paris: the view here is magnificent. ”

Rampoldi
“The ‘Lipp’ of Monaco, with on top of that the kindness of the boss. ”

Flowers

Sorasio
“Because of the flowers, but also the lovely owner, Danielle Carlesi. ”

Team Karl Comes to Selfridges for the Olympics

team karl karl lagerfeld selfridges

Where Chanel goes, KARL by Karl Lagerfeld follows.  First Lagerfeld opened a pop-up shop in St. Tropez for the summer (as did Chanel) and now the KARL brand will pop-up at Selfridges in London just in time for the Olympics (Chanel will have a free-standing pop-up at Covent Garden).

Karl Lagerfeld designed a capsule collection for the event called “Team Karl” and will be sold in a pop-up space on the third floor of Selfridges in the contemporary women’s department.  The collection includes t-shirts designed by the I Love Dust agency including one with the graphic above showing Karl Lagerfeld preparing to throw a discus.  Selfridges will also launch the KARL Fall 2012 collection as well as the first Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man collection.

If you’re in London you should definitely check out the space. Uncle Karl himself will make a personal appearance for the opening on the 24th.

Update: Chanel Covent Garden Pop-Up Store

chanel covent garden pop-up shop

Last week I posted about Chanel opening a pop-up store in Covent Garden just in time for the Olympic Games.  I recently learned new information that I wanted to share.  It appears the boutique will be dedicated to makeup and beauty products which is the first Chanel beauty pop-up store that I can think of.  Chanel has already launched a microsite devoted to the Chanel Covent Garden pop-up shop but all you can see for now is a countdown to the launch. The site also has some answers to frequent questions which you can see below.

La Chanelphile – No Longer Lost in Translation

I’m happy to say that La Chanelphile is now available in fourteen languages! I’ve added some flag buttons in the top right corner of the webpage – find the flag that matches the language you speak and simply click it. It may take a moment, but the page’s contents will be translated. I’ve selected the following languages: French, Italian, Spanish, Portugese, Dutch, German, Russian, Farsi, Arabic, Korean, Japanese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. I’m happy to take suggestions for other languages, but I’ve used the languages available on the Chanel website as a guideline. I hope you are able to enjoy the website more fully!
