Chanel Avant-Premiére – Cinema Inspired Makeup Collection

Gabrielle Chanel went to Hollywood in 1931 at the personal request of Samuel Goldwyn to dress the leading starlets of the day. Here Hollywood legacy lives on today with Chanel designs and cosmetics frequently worn on red carpets at award shows, premieres and on screen.

For Summer 2013, Chanel is releasing the Chanel Avant-Premiére collection inspired by cinema. With names like Cinéma, Paparazzi and Starlet the connection is clear.  The Chanel Avant-Premiére collection includes Le Vernis Nail Colours, Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colours  and Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Colour Lipshines.

This beautiful collection features both bold and neutral colors that will look lovely for summer accompanied by a golden glow that Coco Chanel herself made popular.

US Pricing is as follows: Le Vernis Nail Colour $27.00, Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour $34.00, and Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Colour Lipshine $34.00.

Vogue UK states the UK release as April 4th and US sources declare the US release for May 6th. I will keep you posted with further details.

Kristen Stewart in Chanel Makeup at 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards

Kristen Stewart wore Chanel Makeup to the 2013 Kids’ Choice Awards. Her makeup was done by Chanel celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey and her nails were done by Chanel celebrity manicurist Ashlie Johnson.

INSPIRATION
My inspiration for Kristen’s makeup look came from the vibrancy of her green eyes. I wanted to push the strength of her eyes using shades of purple with iridescent accents.

SKINCARE
I prepped her skin with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid and then dabbed a little CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux under her eyes.

FOUNDATION
I used a combination of CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 on Kristen’s face and neck and CHANEL Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer with soft focus pigments to conceal and even out her complexion.

BLUSH
On the apples of her cheeks, I lightly dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Initiale. I then did a series of highlights on her upper cheekbones and bridge of her nose with Exclusive Creation Poudre Signée De Chanel Illuminating Powder.

EYE SHADOW
The eyes were the cornerstone of this look. I chose CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Vanités and relied on the deep purple shade to add depth to Kristen’s eyes. I blended and layered metallic accents on her lids to intensify the purple shades using CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique. To continue the purple iridescence theme, I traced underneath her lower lashes with CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Violet Smoke. I also used CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Black Shimmer on her upper lash line for extra definition.

MASCARA
I curled the lashes and added two coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir. I added a few individual lashes to finish the look.

LIPS
I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Candeur on her lips for a natural, peachy nude hue.

NAILS
I used CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Taboo, a gorgeous new violine shade with red shimmer that will be launching any day now! The inspiration was modern mod. Her outfit was this gorgeous purplish/blue that looks different depending on the light and angle, just like the Taboo shade. A great red carpet trick for getting out the door quickly apply a thin layer of cuticle oil on top the polish and cuticles so if you bump one on the way out it won’t dent the polish.

Karl Lagerfeld Directs Keira Knightly in Chanel Deauville Film

Last November I mentioned that the upcoming Chanel Resort 2014 collection will take place in Deauville to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the opening of Coco Chanel’s first boutique. While it appears that he is now showing the Cruise collection in Singapore, Karl Lagerfeld is directing a Chanel film featuring Keira Knightly as Coco Chanel. Though shooting in Paris, he plans on recreating the seaside town with “detailed retro sets.” Chanel’s aunt Adrienne (pictured above on the right with Coco Chanel) will be played by French actress Clotilde Hemse. The film will also feature Stella Tennant, Tallulah Harlech, Caroline De Maigret and Brad Kroenig and his son Hudson. The film will debut in May along with the collection.

L’été Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Makeup Collection is one of the most beautiful makeup collections I’ve seen in some time. Taking its cue from the natural beauty of spring L’été Papillon De Chanel Summer 2013 Makeup Collection is inspired by “butterfly wings with eyelids in endless combinations”. The vibrant colors of the collection remind me of the bright makeup I wore in the 80s. It will definitely take some daring to pull off yellow mascara! The collection will be in stores beginning in May.

Dress Up The Season With Target Threshold

When Target offered me the chance to Dress Up the Season and makeover one of the rooms in my house with the new Target Threshold™ collection I jumped at the chance. I had been wanting to freshen up my bedroom for some time as I was tired of my current linens. Since this is a Chanel-related website I used Coco Chanel as my inspiration for the Target Threshold™ makeover.

After the Target Threshold “Dress Up The Season” Makeover

The main item I purchased for the Target Threshold™ makeover is the Threshold™ Pinched Pleat Comforter Set . I thought the most dramatic way to change the room was with white linens. The Pinched Pleat Comforter Set reminded me of the Matelassé pattern that Coco Chanel has made so famous. I love how the white comforter brightened up the entire room and gave a sense of lightness to the atmosphere.

After the Target Threshold “Dress Up The Season” Makeover

Next, in Chanel-fashion, I added a bit more character to the space with accessories. I added picture frames, a silver tray, votive candles and hurricane candle holders. I chose a mirrored and a pearl-finish frames to display photos of my little one. I added votive candles because candlelight can’t be mimicked with electric lights and I converted hurricanes into mini vases and filled them with fresh white hydrangeas. The overall look is charming and I love the way the room turned out.

During the Target Threshold “Dress Up The Season” Makeover – Coco Chanel always said put everything on and take one thing off. I didn’t think the Houndstooth throw worked here so I took it off.

While I was rearranging items during the makeover, one of Coco Chanel’s rules about style rang true. Her famous rule about putting everything on and taking one thing off before leaving your home came in handy when I was redecorating my bedroom. I originally had intended on including a Houndstooth throw to add at the foot of the bed but I felt it needed to be edited out as it didn’t add to the lightness I was trying to achieve.
