Yesterday Chanel presented is Cruise 2014 collection in Dempsey Hill, Singapore. The sweltering, year-round heat of the small island state makes it feel as if you are on permanent vacation, making it the perfect locale for a resort collection presentation.
The festivities began the night before, on Wednesday night when Chanel screened the premiere of “Once Upon a Time” in the courtyard of the historic Raffles Hotel. The next day, Chanelphiles were greeted with one of my favorite resort collections that I’ve seen.

My absolute favorite look was the first look – one that you saw Keira Knightley wearing as Coco Chanel in “Once Upon a Time” – because it’s essentially a replica of a look that Coco Chanel herself wore. The jersey ensemble was one of her first apparel creations and she was pictured wearing the same look in Deauville.

What I loved about this collection was the simplicity and how Karl Lagerfeld really stayed true to the codes that Coco Chanel established. The palette was all black, white, beige and navy/denim with no other color in sight (which I loved by the way!). The models were draped in pearls and most wore some variation of a shoe with a toe-cap. The long side-swept bangs and shock of bright blue eye-makeup gave the timeless looks a bit of edge.
