Chanel Fall-Winter 2013/14 Ad Campaign

The new Chanel ad campaign for the Fall-Winter 2013/14 ad campaign, shot by Karl Lagerfeld, features Ashleigh Good, Chiharu Okunugi & Soo Joo Park. The trio of women follow lady-like pursuits such as sipping tee, embroidering and listening to music — in what seems to be outer space, considering the lack of gravity. I’m liking the images and I’m glad that Karl has added some diversity to his choice of models.

Lake Bell’s Chanel Beauté Look at the Espy’s 2013 Award Look

lake bell chanel

Chanel celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin created a look that was natural, yet glamorous, for Lake Bell at the 2013 Espy Awards. Read on to see how to get the look…

Inspiration: I wanted Lake’s ESPY Awards makeup to have a glamorous yet laid back feel to it.

Skin: First, I hydrated her skin with Le Jour de Chanel serum to give her a fresh glow.

Foundation: I wanted to allow her natural skin to come through, so I lightly applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to her skin.
Blush: I sculpted her cheekbones with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in No. 30 for a healthy but natural looking glow.

Eye: To define her beautiful eyes, I lined the upper lid only with CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir.
Mascara: Lashes were curled and coated with two coats of Le Volume De Chanel Mascara in Noir.

Brows: I filled in her brows with CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Cendre. Lips: I finished the look with Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Favorite a beautiful orange red.

Chanel Beauty at the 2013 Academy Awards / Oscars

Chanel celebrity makeup artists and manicurists applied Chanel beauty products to many A-listers last night at the 2013 Academy Awards to get these ladies ready for Oscar night. Here’s a breakdown of how to achieve these looks.

Anne Hathaway
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee

anne hathaway chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: My inspiration for Annie’s look came from the color of the beautiful delicate pink dress. Annie looked instantly statuesque the moment she put it on and I felt that this dress was worthy of some classical “Movie Star Beauty.” No tricks, just attention to detail, timeless beauty and glamour.

SKINCARE: Great long wearing foundation begins with proper skincare. Annie’s skin was given a good dose of hydration with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum, followed by Laura Mercier Hydrating Foundation Primer.

FOUNDATION: I wanted to make sure that we still saw the quality and texture of Annie’s skin but make sure that the velvety finish would stay put throughout. I used a combination of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra‐Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to make the skin uniform and add luminosity. Then I used just a little CHANEL Perfection Lumière only where needed. The cheekbones, jaw line, bridge of nose and crest of upper lip were highlighted using Make Up Forever UpLight. To complement the highlights and to carve out the cheekbones, I used Illamasqua Cream Color Pigment in Hollow. Once I had my perfect canvas, I set everything in place with Cle De Peau translucent powder.

BLUSH: The check mere mainly sculpted during the application of the base, highlights and shading color, but to finish the look and add a little flush I lighted dusted just the apples of her cheeks with CHANEL Powder Blush in Star Dust.

EYE SHADOW: I started by priming the lid with Laura Mercier’s Eye Canvas to help keep the shadow in place. The eyes were a beautiful lilac grey shadow blended into a soft almond shape that followed Annie’s socket line. I then traced a black line across the outer two thirds on the lash line and tapered it into a gentle tick.

MASCARA: I always use waterproof mascara for awards ceremonies, especially when my client is a nominee! I curled the lashes and applied one generous coat of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir from root to tip, top and bottom. Waterproof mascara generally dries faster and helps hold in the curl. I custom-made the lashes to fit Annie’s eye shape and to finish the look.

EYEBROWS: I took my time sculpting the shape. The brows were combed into shape and intensified by using Anastasia’s Brow Wiz Pencil in Brunette, which I then blended using a stiff angled brush. Once I had the shape I wanted, I added a coat of Anastasia’s Brow Gel to hold them in shape.

LIPS: Anne has full and perfectly balanced lips. I wanted to avoid matching the lips to the dress so I chose a shade slightly more intense and then blended it down until I got just the right shade. The lip color was CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Sèduisante with just a dab of concealer mixed in to make it one shade lighter. I sent her on her way with a powder puff and her lip color.

Naomi Watts
Makeup by Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff
Nails by Chanel Celebrity Manicurist Ashlie Johnson

naomi watts chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: My inspiration for Naomi’s Oscar look was all about strength, unabashed glamour and polish, with a good dose of femininity. We love the Art Deco vibe of the dress, which evoke the Chrysler Building in its statuesque feeling. The dress is strong, curvy and says powerful woman, so I wanted to focus of the power of Naomi’s gorgeous eyes.

SKINCARE: Her skin was prepped with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum around the perimeter with a mattifying primer in the center. The hydrating serum gives a lift and glow to the high bones and the primer enables long wear of foundation and reduces the need for a lot of powder.

FOUNDATION: I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra‐Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to even the skin and CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer around the eye area.

BLUSH: On the apples of her cheeks, I lighted dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Pink Explosion for a very feminine flush. I then added Poudre Signée De Chanel Illuminating Powder on the high cheekbones.

EYESHADOW: The eyes were the big focus of this look; this is where I added strength and sultry definition using a combination of CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Gris and Noir Intense. I rimmed the inner rims and the lash line, then blended and softened. I topped the pencil with CHANEL La Ligne de Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo in Noir-Lame. This is a dry liner to ensure hold and add extra black depth. For the final sparkle – that totally harmonizes with the dress – I mixed CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme and Epatant and to give the look its red carpet worthy shine!

MASCARA: I curled the lashes and added two coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

LIPS: For a soft rose lip that mimics Naomi’s lipcolor, I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Mademoiselle.

NAILS

INSPIRATION: Modern Art Deco

COLORS: CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Frenzy for the hands was a modern way to do a nude. It’s a gray hue that complemented the dress perfectly. CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Graphite was a perfect match for her silver sparkly gown and dark gunmetal shoes.

Zoë Saldaña
Makeup by Celebrity Makeup Artist Vera Steimber

zoe saldana chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: My inspiration for Zoe’s look came from her amazing classic French chic silhouette style dress. I used soft palettes for a natural, sensual, feminine look around her face..

SKINCARE: Her skin was given hydration with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Sublimage La Crème. For the eyes, I used CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux Eye Cream.

FOUNDATION: I started with CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and then combined CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 44 Beige Ambre and 94 Ambre to perfectly match her skintone.

BLUSH: After a light dusting of CHANEL Poudre Signèe de Chanel Illuminating Powder on her high cheekbones, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Frivole.

EYES: Zoe’s eyes were the big focus! I started by applying CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique all over her eyelid and CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme under her eyebrows as a highlighter. On the edges of her eyelid, I used CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes to give the outer part of her eyes depth. On her inner eyelid I carefully applied CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Santal. For a final bit of drama, I finished her eyes with a black liquid liner and CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

LIPS: I finished with CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Chic for a soft lip color that complements the gray in her dress.

Amy Adams
Makeup by Celebrity Makeup Artist Stephen Sollitto

amy adams chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: My inspiration is always a combination of the girl, the dress, the occasion and our feeling the day of the event. Since the gown is a pale slate, I wanted Amy’s face to have subtle color. I thought a palette of plums, taupes and pinks would be perfect for her. This is no specific look, just a stunning overall appearance with focus on her eyes.

SKINCARE: Her skin was given a good dose of hydration with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid and CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux. I find that by moisturizing well, the foundation melts into the skin rather than drying on top of it. If her skin doesn’t look healthy, you distract from the whole look. CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum protects and helps the skin achieve optimal moisture levels, while CHANEL Sublimage, the most luxurious cream you will ever use, delivers the moisture. This step is just as important, as I want Amy’s skin to be at its best.

FOUNDATION: I used a combination of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra‐Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 20 Beige on the high planes of the face and then added a little CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 through the center of the face to give a velvety complexion. I apply this with a damp sponge so the application can be gently and sheer leaving Amy’s well moisturized skin to breath.

BLUSH: On the apples of her cheeks, I lightly dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale, which is a perfect pink so she looks flush with color, but not overpowered by it. I then added Poudre Signée De Chanel Illuminating Powder on the high cheekbones, a tiny amount on the bridge of the nose and the heart of her lips to add dimension and illumination. The effect is really beautiful and I love that it enhances how skin looks in photographs.

EYES: Amy’s eyes were the focus today. We thought an ethereal smoky eye using plums and taupes would be perfect match for the dress. I swept her whole lip with the pale pink shade for CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Mystic Eyes. This just gives me a blank canvas and a clean eye to work with but adds just a hint of sheen. Next, I lined her inner upper and lower lids with CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Brun I did this first so it would blink away as we continued. Next, I lined her upper lash line with the same pencil, smudging it out with a small brush. Over that pencil I swept this beautiful reflective shadow CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre in Illusoire. This smudged the eye even more, softening yet deepening the color. I swept this out to the corners making sure to blend. Lastly in the very outer corners – right in the lash line – I tapped the deep plum color from CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Raffinement with a flat brush into her lashes darkening the root and the corners of her eyes. Under her lower lash line, from corner to corner, I brushed the taupe color from this quad. Then with a straight flat brush, I ground the muted lavender from this palette into the lower lashes. You’re building the eye out here and each color is important. The end result is subtle drama.

MASCARA: I curled the lashes and added two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir. I always use waterproof mascara on so it stays all night. I added a few individual lashes in medium and small to thicken the lashes and add some drama without having to go too dark with the shadow.

LIPS: I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Pygmalion (Available May 2013) on her lips for an easy, effortless hint of pink. For a bit of reflection, I did a light coat of CHANEL Glossimer in Eden (Available May 2013) over it. This adds a bit of glamour without stealing focus.

Jennifer Aniston
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Angela Levin

jennifer aniston chanel beauty oscars

SKINCARE: We wanted this to be an easy day for Jennifer. She applied her own moisturizer, and I touched it and it was beautifully moisturized so just went on to add foundation.

FOUNDATION: I used CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and mixed shades 32 Beige Rose and 70 Beige for a warm look. I set the look with CHANEL Double Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Sunscreen Powder Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 70 Ambre.

BLUSH: I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Tumulte on the cheeks, which looks bright in the packaging, but gives a gorgeous freshness to the face. For shading around the cheeks and nose, I did something interesting by using two eye shadows! I used the beige-pearl shade from CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Taupe-Delicate over the cheekbone and under the brow bone and the other shade around the nose.

EYESHADOW: On the eyes, I used CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Apparance, a beautiful gold shade and CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique as a base for Jennifer’s eye liner. I used CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Dunes to shade the eye, and CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Platine, under her browbone.

EYE LINER: I then applied a very black liquid eyeliner, CHANEL Automatic Liquid Eyeliner in Noir and applied CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique on top of the liner.

MASCARA: After applying CHANEL Nourishing Mascara Base, I then added four coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir for full lashes, and one coat of the mascara to the bottom lashes.

LIPS: I painted Jennifer’s lips with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer Rose Topaz and then layered it with CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Pygmalion (available May 2013) and topped that with CHANEL Glossimer in Envolee (available May 2013).

BODY: Lastly, I added CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base to her shoulders and décolletage.

Halle Berry
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua

halle berry chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: My inspiration for Halle Berry’s look came from her structured black gown with silver beaded vertical stripes. I wanted to keep the makeup look tonal and casual with this dress. I focused on punching up the eyes in a soft feminine way and played up her cheeks to balance this striking “Cadillac” of a dress. I wanted her face to stand out but not compete with the dress. Halle presented the James Bond tribute and so that was the theme of her look!

SKIN: To prep Halle’s skin, I gave her skin a good quenching with CHANEL Sublimage La Creme. Then I primed her skin with REVLON PhotoReady Perfecting Primer for a smooth application of foundation. With a foundation brush, I applied REVLON ColorStay Whipped Creme Makeup in Caramel on her face and neck lightly to even out skin tone. To warm up her face, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Frivole, a warm coral to bring out the brightness of her skin.

EYES: To bring illumination to the eyes, I prepped with REVLON PhotoReady Primer. To open and softly smoke up her eyes, I rounded them out by blending the red brown shade in the REVLON Eye Shadow palette in Graffiti into the crease. To define and thicken the base of the lashes and to pop the eyes, I drew in a hairline thin liner in the lash line with REVLON ColorStay Eyeliner in Black and extended out slightly past the ends of her lashes. To keep the look softer, instead of black inside the lower lid and in the lower lash line, I used CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso. To further soften and bring shimmer to the eyes, I applied REVLON PhotoReady Primer + Eye Shadow in Metropolitan blended out under the lash line. To open her eyes, I applied several coats of mascara in Le Volume de CHANEL in Noir on top and bottom lashes that again defines her eyes without looking heavy.

BROWS: I kept the eyebrows feminine and soft with CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Naturel which is a lighter, blonder brow color, to prevent the look from being harsh or hard feeling.

MASCARA: I curled the lashes and added two coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

LIPS: To hydrate and smooth the lips I applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm. I then shaped and rounded out her lips using CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Praline D’or, lining slightly outside her lip line, and filled in the lips. Next, I smoothed a coat of matte Lipstick by REVLON ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick in Private Viewing.

Kristen Stewart
Makeup by Celebrity Makeup Artist Beau Nelson
Nails by Chanel Celebrity Manicurist Ashlie Johnson

kristen stewart chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: Kristen’s dress is an ombre rosé colored gown with intricate Swarovski detail. I wanted to create a beautiful rose monochrome look with creamy skin, rose cheeks and rose lips. I even used rose colored shadow under smoky layers of taupe and brown to create a very diffused smoky eye.

SKINCARE: I started by prepping the skin with CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux and CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum to hydrate the skin, layered with CHANEL Sublimage La Crème to give the skin a beautiful dewy glow. I used a sponge to apply Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base to the high planes of the face and under the eyes for a subtle highlighting effect.

FOUNDATION: I used two shades of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Fresh And Hydrating Cream Compact Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15, and used CHANEL Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer in Beige Claire under the eyes to brighten them.

BLUSH: I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Tumulte to the apples of the cheekbones and blended back towards the hairline quite low on the cheek to preserve the highlights of the face. I finished by applying a translucent powder all over the face except the tops of the cheekbones.

EYESHADOW: I applied CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Rose Favorite, a rose colored shadow, to the crease of the eye and all the way around the eye, with a soft brush to create a super soft focus pink haze around the eye. I then applied CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Raffinement in smoky layers around the eye and into the pink shadow I had applied before. I used the darkest shade near the outer edge of the eye, top and bottom, to give it shape. I then applied CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Santal to the top lashes and blended it well.

MASCARA: I curled lashes and applied Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir top and bottom.
LIPS: Lips were shaded with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Rubellite and CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Legende applied with a brush, but then blended slightly with my finger to create a soft focus lip that wasn’t too “done”.

NAILS

INSPIRATION: Goddess cool

COLOR: CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Emprise on the hands was a perfect match for her pinky nude sparkly gown. To keep her inner rock star cool, and keep it from looking too much like a little girl, we used CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Western Light on her toes.

PREPARATION: I soaked both her hands and feet then used CHANEL Gommage Microperlé Éclat Maximum Radiance Exfoliating Gel, massaged her with CHANEL Body Excellence Nourishing and Rejuvenating Hand Cream, cleansed the nail and applied CHANEL Base Protectrice Protective Base Coat, then two coats of CHANEL color, and finished with CHANEL Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer.

Jessica Chastain
Nails by Christina Avile
s
jessica chastain chanel beauty oscars

INSPIRATION: We wanted Jessica’s nails to mirror the color of her gorgeous gown and with a fully beaded gown, the nails needed to also have shimmer and glitz!

NAIL PREP: I massaged Jessica’s hands and cuticles with CHANEL Body Excellence Nourishing and Rejuvenating Hand Cream, so her hands will stay smooth moisturized throughout the evening.

COLORS: I started with one coat of CHANEL Le Vernis in Rose Caché followed by an even coat of CHANEL Le Vernis in Quartz. I then used CHANEL Protective Base Coat, since it’s so good for ensuring even application of colors especially when layering different shades!

RED CARPET NAIL TRICK: I always apply two thin coats of CHANEL Extreme Shine Nail Lacquer for maximum glam on the red carpet.

Chanel Beauté at the 2013 SAG Awards

Chanel celebrity makeup artists and manicurists were on hand in Hollywood last night to apply makeup to Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Naomi Watts, Michelle Dockery, Nicole Kidman, January Jones, Kerry Washington and Jessica Paré. Here are the products they used to achieve the looks…

Anne Hathaway
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee

anne hathaway sag awards chanel

INSPIRATION: Annie wore a black embellished gown. The look was elegant, but approachable. Our intention was for her to appear casually chic, so I decided to go with a beautiful deep rose lip. Our vision really came together: the beautiful gown, her Judy Garland inspired hair and her classical make up. I hope this look will allure and inspire all you beauty buffs out there to be creative, fearless and experimental with your own hair and makeup.

SKINCARE: I love a blank canvas, part of the process of creating a great look and making it stay lies in the preparation of the skin. Everyone’s skin is different, but my go-to product for hydration of any skin texture is always CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum. This product feels and smells incredible and delivers just the right amount of hydration without leaving any residue. Primers are not always necessary, but for red carpet season I turn to Laura Mercier’s oil free primer to provide me with a great, velvety, even texture which helps with my application but also keeps the look fresh throughout the event.

FOUNDATION: Annie has the most exquisite alabaster complexion; her new gamine crop really highlights the texture and quality of her skin. I love to experiment with different formulations of foundation when I am blessed with such a perfect canvas. On this occasion I chose CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15. This foundation is opaque and gives a velvety effect.

BLUSH: The definition of the cheeks and cheekbones are synergistically a part of the complexion, and I always regard them as part of my base. For this look I wanted to create a tactile effect and to bring a beautiful apricot hue to the apples of the cheeks to offset the lip colour. I used Jouer Mineral powder blush in Peach Bouquet.

EYES: On the eyes, I used CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Fauve to trace the socket and elongate the eye. Lashes were curled and given a generous coat of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. I added a few extra lashes. The lid and brow bone were nude with a touch of light concealer.

LIPS: The look was all about the lip. Annie has full, beautifully balanced lips. They lend themselves equally well to being bright and defined, or more muted and subdued. This evening we decided to go for a colour that was a more intense version of her natural colour. CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Taffetas Rose is a perfect deep rose/ raspberry shade that is just a few shades more intense than her lips at their reddest.

Jessica Paré
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Mai Quynh

jessica pare sag awards chanel

INSPIRATION: I wanted Jessica to look graceful, but modern. Jessica’s natural beauty shines through while keeping the focal point on her eyes. My inspiration came from the forest green chiffon dress. Its couture with a bad-girl edge echoes the regal essence of the overall look.

SKINCARE: Her skin was given a good dose of hydration with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid and CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux.
.
FOUNDATION: I used a combination of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF15 on the high planes of the face and added a little CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 through the center of the face to give a silky complexion.

BLUSH: On the apples of her cheeks, I lightly dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Star Dust. I then added Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder above the cheekbones and a tiny amount on the bridge of the nose to add dimension and illumination.

EYES: The eyes were the big focus of this look! Using CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes, I added depth to Jessica’s eye shape by using the bronze shade on her entire lid, and blended it very softly upwards and outwards. On the inner lid, I mixed the light beige and soft pink shades and applied it as a highlighter to the inner eye. Then, I smudged the dark chocolate shade along her top and bottom lash line, blending this color into the bronze shadow. I rimmed her eyes with CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso.

MASCARA: I curled the lashes and added two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir to her top and bottom lashes. I added individual lashes to finish the look.

LIPS: I mixed CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour in Chalys and CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Gracile to customize the perfect shade to go with her eyes.

Kerry Washington
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Matthew Vanleeuwen

kerry washington sag awards chanel

INSPIRATION: My inspiration for Kerry’s SAG look was a feeling of modern elegance.

SKINCARE: I prepared her skin by applying CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid to the skin and neck and CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux to the eye area.

FOUNDATION: For the skin, I smoothed on CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Beige Ambre. It was a perfect match!

BLUSH: On the cheeks, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Malice and dusted Route des Indies de Chanel Illuminating Powder With Shimmer high on the cheekbone for emphasis.

EYES: Using CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Vanités, I applied deep plum in the crease and then pressed the palest silvery lilac shade into the lash line. I smudged a little plum under the eye for emphasis. Next I lined the top lid with CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense. I lined the lower inner rim of the eyelid in CHANEL Le Crayon Khôl Intense Eye Pencil in Noir.

MASCARA: I applied Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir.

LIPS: Finally I lined and filled the lips with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Mordoré and finished with
CHANEL Glossmier in Sweet Beige.

January Jone
Makeup by Chanel Celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin

january jones sag awards chanel

INSPIRATION: I was inspired by the tuxedo style of January’s dress and I wanted her makeup to be classic and graphic. I chose a vivid red lip, bold brows and sculpted cheekbones. To me, there’s nothing more timeless than the combination of black, white and red.

SKINCARE: I prepped her skin by dabbing a bit of CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid around the perimeter of her face and then brushed Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer onto the center.

FOUNDATION: I perfected her skin with CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and applied it with a damp beauty blender sponge. I placed Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer just where I needed extra coverage.

BLUSH: I defined her cheekbones with Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder placing it just under her cheekbones and blending upward with an angled blush brush.

EYES: I blended Laura Mercier Sateen eyeshadow in Stellar onto her arches and lids them placed Shisiedo Shimmering cream color in Leather under her brow bone and under the eye.

MASCARA: I used two coats of Le Volume de Chanel mascara in Noir

LIPS: For her lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Incandescente, a powerful
red with a warm undertone.

INSPIRATION: We wanted to do something modern and architectural with a nod to classic Hollywood glamour.

SKINCARE: CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum and Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base.

FOUNDATION: I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and applied it with the foundation brush. Michelle loves glowing, dewy skin, and because her skin is flawless I only have to use a little amount. I then used a tiny bit of CHANEL Correcteur Perfection Long-Lasting Concealer under the eyes and around the nose.

BLUSH: For Michelle’s cheeks, I lightly dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Frivole, keeping it concentrated at the apples. I then finished with Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder to highlight her cheekbones, and a bit down her nose and above the bow of her lip to give her that extra radiance!

EYES: We were really set on doing a smoky eye this time, but we decided to give it a twist by using the gorgeous deep green in CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lilium. With a domed eyeshadow brush, I applied the green shade all across her lid and blended it up . I also smudged it underneath the lower lashes. I then took the black matte shadow in CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Gris-Subtil and intensified the smoke on the outer corners. To add a little sparkle right at the lashline, I smudged a bit of CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Illusoire.
MASCARA: I finished with three coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir on the upper
and lower lashes.

LIPS: We smudged the gorgeous CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in
L’Exquise and used it almost like a stain, with no liner.

Nicole Kidman

INSPIRATION: For the SAGs and Nicole, my inspiration was a sexy, stormy sky! The dress was a gorgeous midnight blue. Just stunning! I loved the contrast between her skin and the dress.

SKINCARE: I started with a thin layer of CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Texture Supreme, as I always do, on face and neck. I then placed a tissue on her face and gently tapped to lift the excess moisture from the skin.

FOUNDATION: I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 with a foundation brush to her face and neck, and added CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Translucent 1 to the eyelids and T-zone.

BLUSH: I added CHANEL Powder Blush in Star Dust, a pale pink blush to her cheeks.

EYES: For her eyes I chose the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lagoons; it has four beautiful shades of blue that were perfect for this look. Normally, I use a round motion as I apply the eye shadows, but this time I used straight strokes from the inner part of the eye going out to create a sexy eye look. Starting in the inner corner, I used the palest blue shade in the palette. I then applied the middle blue shade all over the eye to the crease and then blended the blue-grey shade to the corners of the eye. Lastly, I used the darkest blue shade to outline the eyes.

EYELINER: I used the CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Ebene and blended it with the dark blue shadow to line the eye.

MASCARA: I curled the lashes and applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.

LIPS: I finished the look with a thin layer of CHANEL Rouge Coco Baume, blotting the lips with a tissue to set the moisture, and then added CHANEL Glossimer in Amour for a pop of color.

Naomi Watts

INSPIRATION: Naomi chose a platinum with silver embroidered overlay dress to wear to the SAG Awards. The soft color and delicate embroidery lent itself to a strong lip statement. We decided on an intense, matte, raspberry lip as the focal point. The eyes and skin were kept very soft with a soft flash of silver on the lid.

SKINCARE: To prepare Naomi’s skin for foundation, I used CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum to plump the skin with hyaluronic acid. This gives nourishment to the skin.

FOUNDATION: With a foundation brush, I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Moisture-Rich Radiance Sunscreen Fluid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 starting at the center of face and working toward the perimeter where needed only. The eye area is brightened using CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer.

BLUSH: Blush was kept very minimal to allow the lip color to take focus. I dusted a small amount of CHANEL Powder Blush in Star Dust on the tops of cheekbones to add a touch of sheen.

EYES: I kept the eyes minimal. I first used CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer on the lids to even the tone of lid. I then dusted CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Lily. On the center of lid, I added a flash of silver highlight with CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Infini. The inner rim was lined with CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine to brighten the under eye whites of eyes.
MASCARA: I curled the lashes and then applied Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir on upper lashes only.

LIPS: I used CHANEL Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in La Sensuelle with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Rouge Profond. I applied a stain of the lipstick first and then used a delicate touch of the lip pencil to sharpen edges with another coat of this vivid raspberry lipstick. The lip is super rich in color and very lush and matte.

NAILS: CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Black Pearl. We choose this color for hands and feet. The slight silver-teal shimmer of this black nail shade was a perfect complement to the emerald ring.

Jessica Chastain

INSPIRATION: We were inspired by her red dress, so we chose a soft nail color that wouldn’t compete with her stunning gown, but complemented her fair and glowing skin.

COLORS: CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Tendresse.

RED CARPET NAIL TRICK: Double up on top coat to ensure a high gloss shine!

Chanel Beauté at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Chanel not only was present at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards in the way of Haute Couture but Chanel Beauté cosmetics graced the lovely faces of Anne Hathaway, Sienna Miller, Jodie Foster, Naomi Watts, Michelle Dockery, Emily Mortimer and Alicia Vikander. See the images below for beauty tips and how to get the looks from the Chanel celebrity makeup artists Rachel Goodwin, Vanessa Scali, Pati Dubroff, Jordan B. Long and Kate Lee.

Anne Hathaway Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee

INSPIRATION: Annie wore an ice-white beaded gown by CHANEL with CHANEL Fine Jewelry! The look was elegant, but still youthful and light. I felt that the makeup should mirror this, and wanted Annie to appear as if lit from within, so I concentrated on making the complexion as tactile as possible, and added a dash of blue pink to the lips as a focal point.
SKINCARE: CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Base Lumière Illuminating Makeup Base.
FOUNDATION:    I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 to keep the skin looking radiant. I added a small amount of CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long- Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 only where needed.
BLUSH: On the cheekbones, I used a light sweeping touch of Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder to illuminate the bone structure; I also followed this along the clavicle and over the shoulder blades. On the apple of the cheek, I used a pale peach blush to contrast the lip color.
EYES:    I defined Annie’s eye socket with CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Fauve which is a delicious grey/lilac shade. I ran the color along the base of the lower lashes to finish the look.
MASCARA: Lashes were curled and given a coat of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir. I then added a selection of lashes for a customized shape.
LIPS: Lips were CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Sedusicante, the perfect pink for a perfect pout.

Anne Hathaway Nails by Celebrity Manicurist Alicia Torello

INSPIRATION: We started with one idea based off the dress and then it just kept evolving. Anne usually knows what she wants and has fantastic taste.

COLORS: CHANELLeVernisNailColourinPearlDrop.

RED CARPET NAIL TRICK: A great top coat for super shine. Lots of lotion and cuticle oil, hydration is the most important thing!

Sienna Miller Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff

Sienna Miller Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff

INSPIRATION: I wanted the makeup to look very fresh, young and effortless. The dress has a very airy floral vibe so the makeup feels like a summer day.

SKINCARE: CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Texture Suprême and CHANEL Base Lumière Illuminating Makeup Base to give skin a luminous glow.

FOUNDATION: CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Beige 40. I used Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base to contour the cheekbones and to add a soft summer bronzy glow.

EYES: I first used a rich navy blue pencil, CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Marine, at the deepest base of lashes. I then smudged a shimmering shade, CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Graphite, along the lash line. To set the liner, I used CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Furtif. I then added a dash of CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Riviere, a soft shimmering seafoam green on the center of lid. Then a soft touch of CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme on the inner corner of eyes for a pop of shimmering white light.

MASCARA: I used a hefty dose of Le Volume de Chanel in Noir on the top lashes only.

LIPS: I created a soft and sweet petal pink using CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Gracile.

Naomi Watts Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff

Naomi Watts Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Pati Dubroff

INSPIRATION: Naomi is one of those actresses who evoke a timeless, classic elegance. I kept thinking Carole Lombard and the polish of the 30′s screen sirens. She was sexy and sultry, and that is how I see Naomi.

SKINCARE: Skin was prepped with Le Blanc De Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base.

FOUNDATION: CHANEL Vitalumière Moisture-Rich Radiance Sunscreen Fluid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in 20 Clair and CHANEL Lift Lumière Smoothing and Rejuvenating Eye Contour Concealer in 20 Rose Lumière around the eye area.
BLUSH: A very soft swipe of CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale high on the apples of the cheeks for a very romantic feel. On the very tops of cheekbones, I applied a soft swipe of Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder to create a pearl-like finish.

EYES: I defined the upper and lower lashline and inner rims with CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Gris. The eye socket and lash lines were contoured with the deep plum tone from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Raffinement. I left the center open to add a flash of pewter shine with CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eye Shadow in Epatant. I then added a bit more flash at the upper and lower center lash lines with CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine.

MASCARA: A coat of mascara upper lash with Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir and then a bordeaux coat of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Rouge Noir on the lower lashes.

LIPS: I applied CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Determinee, a plum tone with a lip brush and then pressed the color into the lip with my finger to make it look stained and softened.

Jodie Foster Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin

Jodie Foster Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin

INSPIRATION: Jodie’s Golden Globes make up was meant to be sultry and super glamorous. When I saw the incredible structure of her navy metallic gown I knew Gunmetal eyes and soft peach lips and cheeks would be the perfect compliment. She was receiving the prestigious Cecil B De Mille Life Time Achievement Award and I wanted her to feel as beautiful as possible for such a big moment.

SKINCARE: I began by prepping her skin with CHANEL Sublimage L’Essence Essential Revitalizing Concentrate and let it absorb in to the skin.

FOUNDATION: I applied a thin layer of CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 with a foundation brush buffing off any excess. I sculpted her cheeks with Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing powder in Sable Beige.

EYES: I traced her lash line with CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Marine, blending until there was a soft diffused line. I went over the navy liner with CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Black Star using an angled brush blending upward onto her crease and lids creating an intense smoky effect.

MASCARA: I coated her lashes with Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir and added a few individual lashes at the ends for even more amped up lashes.

LIPS: Her lips were a combination of CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Natural and CHANEL Rouge Allure Pure Shine Intense Colour Long Wear Lip Gloss in Mervielle.

Emily Mortimer Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin

Emily Mortimer Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Rachel Goodwin

INSPIRATION: I wanted Emily’s makeup to have a laid back, sexy feel. I was inspired by chic French girls like Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon who always seem to strike that perfect balance and never look too done.

FOUNDATION: I created soft matte skin with CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 in Beige 10.

EYES: The main focus of the look was her eyes so I began by lining her lash line with CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Noir- Ivoire using just the black shadow for a smoky effect. I softened the black by placing a white shimmering cream shadow on the inner eye and on to her eyelid creating a soft grey shimmer.

MASCARA: I used two coats of Le Volume de Chanel mascara in Noir on her lashes.

LIPS: On her lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Fantasque, a soft nude that would add just enough color for her lips not to disappear and then finished by dabbing a bit on her cheeks.

Michelle Dockery Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Jordan B. Long

Michelle Dockery Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Jordan B. Long

INSPIRATION: Modern and sexy with Old Hollywood Glamour. Michelle is in period 60 percent of the time so to try something new we wanted to do a smoky eye, some high fashion and some tousled hair to highlight her new cut.

SKINCARE: I started with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum and followed with Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base all over the face with a foundation brush.

FOUNDATION: I lightly stippled CHANEL Vitalumière Moisture-Rich Radiance Sunscreen Fluid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15. Michele’s skin is so flawless – so we love to let that show through.

BLUSH: After a light dusting of translucent powder, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Frivole to the apples o her cheeks. Michelle loves her skin to show through and I love to use highlighters and to keep her complexion dewy, so the Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder was perfect on her cheekbones, down her nose and above her lip and her chin for brightening.

EYES: We wanted to do a smoky eye. Michelle’s character in Downton Abbey wears next to nothing, so we decided early on to go for it. Since she’s wearing white and gold with burgundy shoes we wanted something warm. I used CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Raffinement. I applied the dark burgundy brown all over the lid. Then blending up towards the browbone, but leaving some space. I then added CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Apparence at the center, blending the colors together. I love burgundy and gold. Michelle has a lot of reddish tones in the color of her eyes so we wanted to highlight that. We finished with a very fine line on upper lash line of CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Noir Intense.

MASCARA: I used three coats of Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir. We also added extra coats on Michelle’s extra-long gorgeous lower lashes for extreme fluttery lashes.

LIPS: We wanted a very natural, nudish glossy lip. Michelle has a lot of pigment in her lips naturally, so against her pale gorgeous milky skin doing too nude doesn’t work, so we used a lipstick with a slight color: CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Sedusicante with no liner and then with a gold gloss, CHANEL Rouge Allure Pure Shine Intense Colour Long Wear Lip Gloss in Attirance.

Alicia Vikander Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Vanessa Scali

Alicia Vikander Chanel Makeup by Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Vanessa Scali

INSPIRATION: Alicia wore a gorgeous CHANEL gown. I was inspired by her natural beauty and liked the contrast of an effortless, fresh face against her textured, intricate gown.

SKINCARE: CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum followed by CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid and CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Yeux. This combination prepares the skin with penetrating hydration and leaves a clean finish on the skin.

FOUNDATION: I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15 sparingly. Alicia has gorgeous skin so there is no need to hide it under foundation.
BLUSH: CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Initiale concentrated on the apples of the cheeks blending outward and upward toward the cheekbones. For a touch of shimmer, I used Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder high on the cheekbones and brow bones.

EYES: Using CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Rives, I blended the pale gold shade from lash line to just past the natural crease. To lengthen and add depth, I used the mid-brown shade and concentrated on the outer corners of the eye and extended past the natural eye line. I blended a touch of CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme on the inner corner and into the middle of the lid. This pops a little light on this area and opens the eyes.

EYELINER: To define and elongate the lash line, I lined her eyes (upper lid only) with CHANEL Precision Eyeliner in Brun Intense. I used the tip of the CHANEL Contour Shadow Brush #14 to smudge it into the lash line. This gives you the definition in a soft, subtle way.

MASCARA: A few generous coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir. LIPS: CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Bel-Ami gave her lips a beautiful, just-bitten look.
