Discovered by the CHANEL Direction du Patrimoine in the Pathé-Gaumont cinematographic archives, this film presents the “Bijoux de Diamants” exhibit held from November 7th-19th, 1932 at Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment 29 Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris. Broadcasted before the feature movies in every French cinema, it was a prominent event in French news in November 1932.
I love seeing the archival footage of the original exhibit in Coco Chanel’s own home!
Baby, it’s cold outside, the families in town and the tree is up. I’m ready for a break to spend time with family and friends, reflect on 2012 and dream for 2013. I have some posts that I want to get up before the year is over but I’ve been sick and I’m taking the next few days off. I wish you Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year! I hope to be back next week to wish you a Happy 2013!
Each month my other website MISS features designer products with a matching manicure. We’ve had several months devoted to Chanel and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the holidays than with a Chanel Christmas tree. So I present to you a white Christmas tree complete with vintage Chanel jewelry and accessories as ornaments. I hope your holidays will be filled with Chanel!

Douglas Rosin presents a Coco Chanel capsule collection of vintage jewelry for sale on 1stDibs to commemorate the eve of Coco Chanel’s 129th birthday on Sunday. I gave you a preview of the 1stDibs Chanel birthday sale yesterday but I’ve taken screenshots of the entire sale and editorial they put together. It’s informative, gorgeous and so inspiring. I love seeing earlier creations because I feel like they give us a glimpse into who Coco Chanel was. One piece is more gorgeous than the next – I love the excess of it all. It’s obvious why Coco Chanel is responsible for making costume jewelry popular. Enjoy, and hopefully you might even be able to buy something!

Back in January I mentioned 1stDibs as one of the best destinations for finding vintage Chanel and they are the home to the Chanel Avant Karl sale featuring rare period Chanel costume jewelry. With Coco Chanel’s birthday approaching this Sunday, August 19th, 1st Dibs is launching a sale tomorrow to commemorate what would have been Mademoiselle Chanel’s 129th birthday. Here’s a preview of what you can expect to find – what better to celebrate Gabrielle Chanel’s birthday than to wear Chanel?
Earlier this week I met with a vintage Chanel dealer that happens to live just a few towns over – many thanks to Liz Baca of The Goods! for the referral! I took many photos of the products she has for sale and I’ll be doing a full post next week but for now I just wanted to give you a sneak peek of some of her goodness.
I got a great deal on two of my favorite pieces that I saw there – a mini vintage Chanel bow pin and a mini vintage Chanel bag. You may not be able to see the scale from the photos but the pin is about the width of a US quarter and the bag is just wide enough to hold my iPhone. They are so adorable! I’ve wanted a mini bag to add to my collection and now I have one! I also won’t be so afraid to use the bag because it’s already gently used

Have you seen the June 2012 issue of Elle US? I’m always a little bit behind on reading my magazine but this weekend I decided to delve into my pile. I was happy to see that Elle did an editorial celebrating Chanel’s little black jacket to commemorate The Little Black Jacket exhibition and book. Elle took Chanel’s little black jacket and gave it six very different looks pairing the jacket with current pieces and vintage Chanel. The six different looks are – in order of appearance: Street Wise, Classic, Menswear, Sporty, New Romantic and Haute Rebel. My favorites are definitely the first three – sorry I can’t choose one! Which is your favorite look?
