Chanel Holiday 2011 Les Scintillances de Chanel

Chanel Holiday 2011 Makeup Collection LES SCINTILLANCES DE CHANEL

Coco Chanel herself was said to wear gold eyeshadow and red lipstick.  It seems the Chanel Holiday 2011 Les Scintillances de Chanel collection hearkens back to the original look Mademoiselle herself favored. The collection is full of limited edition items but if you had to take away the overriding theme – red and gold. When you think about it, around the holidays with lots of parties and celebrations, it doesn’t get more festive than red and gold.  And besides, in my opinion red and gold are the best accent colors to Chanel’s signature black and white.

One of the standouts of the collection are the textured pressed powder inspired by a Chanel belt buckle.  The collection also includes loose powders, eyeshadow singles, eyeshadow duos, Rouge Allure lipsticks, Glossimers and of course, Le Vernis. The collection should be available in stores now.

    Details of the collection:

LUMIÈRE SCULPTÉE DE CHANEL HIGHLIGHTING POWDER
A true visionary, Mademoiselle Chanel found inspiration everywhere. Today, the Paris Makeup Studio does similarly — capturing the gilded beauty of Mademoiselle’s treasured belt buckle in LUMIÈRE SCULPTÉE DE CHANEL Highlighting Powder, an illuminating powder that gently highlights the skin with a sheer blend of tender pink and pearlescence. Shades of ivory and pink dusted with tone-on-tone mother-of-pearls make this palette the height of glamour and sophistication. $72.00 Limited Edition

ROUGE ALLURE LUMINOUS SATIN LIP COLOUR
Colour lips classic for the holidays with ROUGE ALLURE Luminous Satin Lip Colour in two new shade offerings. Timeless reds offer instant elegance and drama, while hues of pink create a feminine and festive effect.
    $32.00 Limited Edition

    LE VERNIS NAIL COLOUR
This holiday season, nails are take-notice in festive red or iconic black. $25.00 Limited Edition

    Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear Runway Beauty

Chanel Spring Summer 2012 BeautyPearls of beauty – that’s how I would sum up the hair and beauty at the Chanel spring-summer 2012 ready-to-wear presentation.  Pearls were on the apparel and on the skin as well – where you would normally see beauty marks, facial jewelry and even the models’ spines instead had delicate pearls.  Makeup was kept pretty simple – eyeshadow reminiscent  of mother of pearl with black eyeliner paired with natural blush and lips.

I especially loved the hair – wet hair was the perfect finishing touch to an underwater-themed collection.  The wet hair was twisted into low side buns at the nape of the models’ necks and pearls floated in the models’ hair.

Last but not least we have the nail color!  From what I could see from the runway images I saw 2 colors: white and coral.  I don’t know if it’s an existing white color like Pearl Drop or a new one.  It would be lovely to see a white iridescent shade that’s like mother of pearl.  I’ll fill you in on details as soon as I receive the information from Chanel.  For now enjoy these photos…

Chanel Beauté at the 2011 Emmy Awards

Last night the 2011 Emmy Awards aired and I was watching the red carpet with my eagle eye after hearing rumors that Lea Michelle and Dianna Agron were trying to source vintage Chanel couture for the red carpet.  Alas, the ladies did not wear Chanel but Gwyneth Paltrow and Dianna Agron wore Chanel Beauté.  Here are details on how to achieve their looks from their celebrity makeup artists themselves.

GWYNETH PALTROW / CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST KATE LEE

    Inspiration:
“The dress inspired the look. It was very fashion forward, with a nod to the 30s. I wanted to keep her looking youthful and radiant, with an edge.”

    How-To:
Kate prepped Gwyneth’s skin with CHANEL Beauté Initiale Eye Gel and Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base, followed by CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long-Wear Flawless Fluid Makeup SPF 10 and Kanebo Sensai Brush Concealer.  Focusing on the eyes, she lined the eyes with CHANEL Le Crayon Kohl Intense Eye Pencil in Noir.  She curled the lashes and covered the entire lid with CHANEL Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emerveille, letting a little go into the inner corners of the lower lid.  Then, she used CHANEL Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme to add a bright shimmering highlight to the center of the lid.  She added a soft line of black Shiseido Liquid Eyeliner at the base of the lashes to make them appear fuller, and finished the eyes with a generous amount of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir on the top and bottom lashes.  The brows were perfected with CHANEL Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair and Anastasia Brow Gel.  Kate highlighted the cheekbones with By Terry Rose de Rose Sheer  Liquid Blush in Coral Rose and accented the apples with Kevin Aucoin The Creamy Moist Glow Blush in Euphoria.  To finish the look, Gwyneth’s lips were defined with Kevin Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Medium and Kiehl’s Lip Balm.

    Products used:
CHANEL Beauté Initiale Eye Gel, $70.00

Le Blanc de CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Base, $45.00

DIANNA AGRON / CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST ANGELA LEVIN

    dianna agron 2011 emmy awards

    Inspiration:
“Hollywood movie star with a modern twist.”

    How-To:
Angela prepped Dianna’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Eye Cream, CHANEL Hydramax Active Moisture Gel Cream, and Jan Marini Age Intervention Prime Face Primer.  Then, she applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Tendre to even out her skin.  To play up Dianna’s blue dress and green hazel eyes, Angela emphasized the eyes.  She lined the eyes using CHANEL Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Mirifique and CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Longlasting Eyeliner in Ebène.  Then, she used the dark grey and the black shades in the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Smoky Eyes all over the lids, followed by Burberry Sheer Eye Shadow in Midnight Blue on the lids and under the lower lash line.  The brows were perfected with CHANEL Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun Naturel and the lashes were finished with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.  To complete the look, Angela used CHANEL Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Ecrin on the cheeks, followed by Kevin Aucoin The Flesh Tone Lip Pencil in Minimal, CHANEL Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Colour in Rose Morganite, and CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Canotier.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet & Beauté des Ongles Matte Top Coat

chanel rouge allure velvet lipstick for fall 2011

For fall, Chanel is unveiling a new matte lipstick – Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet. The soft, yet intense rich matte color is created with the inclusion of mother-of-pearl pigments. The introductory collection of Rouge Allure Velvet includes eight shades La Ravissante, La Câline, La Raffinée, L’Exubérante, La Fascinate, La Somptueuse, La Sensuelle, L’Exquise. The non-drying matte Rouge Allure Velvet comes in a sophisticated click-open case.  The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lip colours will retail for $32.

The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet collection will also include 3 Le Vernis shades, Pirate, Rose Caché, Rose Exubérant, and the introduction of Beauté des Ongles – a new topcoat that will give any shade of nail polish a matte finish.  The limited edition topcoat and Le Vernis shades will retail for $25.

I’m excited to see this collection. I’m a fan of matte lip and nail products, I think they look really sophisticated. I also love the feel of this ad – it’s so simple and chic – very Chanel. The lighting, especially the use of the spotlight, creates a very femme fatale effect.

Les Aquarelles de Chanel Makeup Collection

Les Aquarelles de Chanel Makeup CollectionLes Aquarelles de Chanel, the newest makeup collection from Chanel, is the corresponding makeup collection to the Summer haute couture collection.  You may remember, but the Chanel Spring-Summer 2011 haute couture collection was inspired by the paintings of Marie Laurencin, specifically a portrait she painted of Coco Chanel, hence the name Les Aquarelles which is French for watercolors.  The soft watercolors translated to a palette of soft pastelles and breezy fabrications of chiffon with light reflecting beading. The makeup collection to match is just as light and soft.

The highlight of the collection is the limited edition OMBRES TISSÉES a graduating color palette with beiges, pinks and peaches (creating a signature tweed effect) perfect for sweeping on eyes or cheeks (or both).  The collection also includes blushes JOUES CONTRASTE in Pink Cloud and Rose Pétale, eyeshadow OMBRE ESSENTIELLE in Gris Exquis, lipstick ROUGE COCO SHINEin Royallieu, mascara STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF in Ebene and LE VERNIS in Tendresse.

Les Aquarelles de Chanel can be purchased online on Chanel.com or in Chanel boutiques.

Anne Hathaway’s Chanel Beauty Look at the “One Day” Premiere

anne hathaway new york premiere one day

Last week Anne Hathaway looked stunning on the red carpet at the New York premiere of One Day.  Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee works with Anne Hathaway regularly and she created this red carpet look.  Here’s how she created the look:

Annie wore a black Alexander McQueen resort collection gown with gold embroidery. The dress had a great structure to it, so we wanted to keep the look cute, young and casual.

For her face, I started with CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long Wear Makeup SPF 10 (launching October 2011), which I swept across Annie’s skin and perfected with a sponge.

On her eyes, I used Burberry sheer eye shadow in Antique Rose, which is a purplish brown that defined her socket line. I drew a thin line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir at the base of the lashes, top and bottom, and also inside of the waterline to give an ink pot effect. Then over the top, with a small natural fiber brush, I padded CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique which I took to the outer corner, blending a tiny amount under the eye to soften the shape.

I curled the lashes with the new CHANEL Precision Eyelash Curler and coated her lashes with a few strokes of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara…then a few extras were added for even more intensity! Her brows were slicked into place with Anastasia Brow Gel.

I defined her cheek bones with Kevin Aucoin shading colour in Medium and I finished her look by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fetiche on the lips.

    CHANEL PRODUCTS USED:
Perfection Lumière Long Wear Makeup SPF 10 (launching October 2011), $55.00
Intense Eye Pencil in Noir, $29.00
Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique, $36.00
    Precision Eyelash Curler, $34.00
Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fetiche, $32.00
