First Look: Chanel Bleu Illusion Makeup Collection

    chanel bleu illusion

Back in January we got a sneak peak of Chanel’s Bleu Illusion makeup collection that debuted on the Chanel Haute Couture Spring-Summer 2012 runway. Peter Philips created a collection awash in blues and the new limited edition products are: Illusion D’Ombre Shadow in Apparition (gray-ish blue), Illusion D’Ombre Shadow in Destination (silvery satin blue), Le Crayon Yeux Eyeliner in Blue Aerien (intense luminous blue), and Le Vernis Nail Polish in Sky Line. Describing Chanel Le Vernis Sky Line, Peter Philips stated: “It’s a beautiful, easy to apply, pearly- on the edge of metallic- shade that matched perfectly with the range of blues that Karl used for this haute couture collection.”

From the images the Bleu Illusion collection is very pretty but there’s a part of me that’s having horrible flashbacks of the 1980s and blue eyeshadow. I think in moderation this look can be really pretty and complements different eye colors. The Exclusive Collection BLEU ILLUSION will be available at specific points of sales in July 2012.

Chanel “Paris-Bombay” Bombay Express 2012 Makeup

chanel bombay express makeupBack in December I showed you the beauty for Chanel Métiers D’Art Paris-Bombay Pre-Fall 2012 collection and now we have official images of the pieces in the Chanel Bombay Express makeup collection.  The collection features a lovely Poudre Compacte called Route des Indes de Chanel which is a lovely golden color used to highlight and matches many skintones. As with all of Chanel’s special palettes, the Route des Indes de Chanel compact features an Indian-inspired design.

chanel bombay express makeupThe collection also includes Illusion d’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Nirvana, a deep black to give you the effect of kohl-rimmed eyes.  Nirvana differs from Mirifique because it looks like a truer black without the silver sparkle and mulit-color shimmer of Mirifique.

chanel bombay express makeup diwali nail polish
The Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Brume d’Or is a lovely pinkish-peach with a hint of gold and the new Rouge Coco Shine
in Empreinte is a nice nude color to balance out the dramatic and bold eyemakeup.  Finally there’s Le Vernis in Diwali, a luminous gold shade named for the Indian festival of lights.

I love the items in the collection – I’m a huge fan of dramatic eye makeup with a nude lip and I think these colors will look especially pretty with a tanned summer glow.  The collection is set to release this month.

    Chanel Cruise 2012/13 Show Beauté

Versailles de CHANEL Collection chanel cruise 2012 2013

Peter Philips created a lovely pink look that was “between girly and rebel” – very editorial and runway but not sure how it will translate as an everyday look. I will say that it was very pretty on the models and was the perfect compliment to the pastel rainbow of tweeds and chiffons that Karl Lagerfeld sent down the runway. The icing on the let-them-eat-cake look were the velvet double-C Chanel logo stickers that were placed high on the cheekbones and under the eyes of the models to mimic beauty marks made famous by Marie Antoinette.

As striking as the makeup was, I couldn’t take my eyes off of the hair by Sam McKnight. From the initial images, I thought that the models all were just wearing Dutch Boy bob wigs in pastel colors. When I saw close up images I saw that the hairstyles were actually much more complex. In a way, it was like an 18th century interpretation of a mullet – business in the front and party in the back. And by party, I mean long ponytails with big bows at the nape of the models’ necks.

Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup used the following CHANEL products to create the runway beauty looks:

Skin prepared with HYDRA BEAUTY SERUM Hydration Protection Radiance

    The Complexion
VITALUMIERE Moisture-Rich Radiance Fluid Makeup SPF 15
    ECLAT LUMIERE Highlighting Face Pen

Chanel’s popular luminous matte line of lipsticks Rouge Allure Velvet has a new addition – La Distinguée. The soft peach-pink shade is lovely for spring and is available now exclusively online on Chanel.com. If you are not in the U.S. and can’t purchase online, don’t fret I’m sure this will probably get released to wider distribution soon.

Chanel Beauté at the 2012 Costume Institute Gala

Chanel apparel may have been lacking on the red carpet at the Metropolitan’s 2012 Costume Institute Gala but Chanel Beauté made a strong showing. Here is a breakdown of who wore what this past Monday…

JANUARY JONES – MAKEUP BY CHANEL CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST RACHEL GOODWIN
2012 costume institute gala january jonesJanuary’s makeup tonight was all about fun spring color, so we chose CHANEL Rouge Allure Lipstick in Enjouee, a matte coral shade (available September) to create a prominent pastel mouth with a slightly playful feeling.

I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 10 on her skin for a smooth hydrated complexion.

I shaded her eye crease and cheekbones with Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose and embellished her lids and inner eyes with CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre in Vision (available November), a gold irridescent cream shade that played off the gold details of her vivid yellow gown and her turquoise and gold necklace. I finished her eyes with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir and filled in her brows with CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair.

    Products used:
CHANEL Rouge Allure Lipstick in Enjouee (available September), $32.50
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 10, $45.00
Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose, $60.00
CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre in Vision (available November), $36.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Blond Clair, $29.00

On her fingers: CHANEL Le Vernis Nail Colour in Beige*

CAREY MULLIGAN – MAKEUP BY MAKEUP ARTIST GEORGIE EISDELL

2012 costume institute gala carey mulliganUsually when designing the look for a big event, I seek inspiration in multiple areas but seeing as this is the MET Gala, all of the inspiration came from the dress! Her dress is a true work of art and reminded me of a modern day glamorous gladiator so I wanted her eyes to look fierce!

I started by prepping Carey’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage La Creme Texture Supreme. It’s the perfect cream to hydrate the skin for makeup.

I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 all over to even out her skin tone and give a flawless finish. A light dust of CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair was used to take the edge off the shine. On Carey’s cheeks, I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Fandango on the apples of her cheeks blended back to give her definition and a soft glow.

Carey’s eyes were my main focus. I used CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Noir-Ivoire all over her eye lid blending ever so slightly up above the natural crease of her eye, pulling it out to the sides of her eyes to give her a sharper and more dramatic edge. Then, I layered CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir to finish her eyes. I wanted Carey’s eyebrows to be strong and structured so I used CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun to create this effect. I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Beige Felin; this was the perfect lipstick to finish off her MET Gala look.

    Products used:
CHANEL Sublimage La Creme Texture Supreme, $390.00
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15, $45.00
CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair, $45.00
CHANEL Powder Blush in Fandango, $43.00
CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Noir-Ivoire, $42.00
CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in Brun, $29.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Beige Felin, $32.50

EMILY BLUNT – MAKEUP BY CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST JENN STREICHER

2012 costume institute gala emily bluntI was able to go with Emily to the initial fitting and I knew from the moment I saw the dress, and the color, I wanted to do a bronzy eye. We wanted to showcase the color of the dress with very simple streamlined hair, beautiful skin and a matte lip. I originally wanted to do a more coral lip, but after she put the dress on, we all agreed a more nude color looked better.

I mixed the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rose with a little of the CHANEL Soleil Tan Sheer Illuminating Fluid to give her skin a sun-kissed bronzy look. I then brushed a little CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Naturel across her nose and forehead. I gave her just a pop of color on her cheeks with CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Bronze.

On her eyes, I started with the CHANEL Professional Eye Shadow Base and then blended colors from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices and Mystic Eyes. I gave her one coat of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, as to not take away from the intense bronzy eye. After trying a few shades of lipstick, we thought the CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Peregrina looked best.

    Products used:
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rose, $45.00
CHANEL Soleil Tan Sheer Illuminating Fluid, $48.00
CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Naturel, $45.00
CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Bronze, $43.00
CHANEL Professional Eye Shadow Base, $32.00
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices, $58.00
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes, $58.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Peregrina, $32.50

SARAH JESSICA PARKER – MAKEUP BY MAKEUP ARTIST LESLIE LOPEZ

2012 costume institute gala sarah jessica parkerI was inspired by Sarah Jessica’s dress – the dress always tells you what to do with the makeup! It reminded me of a party in Versailles, so I didn’t want to do anything too harsh…we wanted her to be fresh and beautiful – garden chic!

I started by prepping her skin with CHANEL Sublimage La Creme Texture Supreme and used it on her neck as well. Sarah Jessica’s skin looks gorgeous, so I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 30 only in the places she really needed it and applied it very lightly, followed by my favorite product CHANEL Long Lasting Concealer in Beige Ivoire. I used a pink blush on her cheeks and then topped that off with Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose and applied that to the temples of her forehead.

For the eyes, I applied CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lilium. I used the minty green shade all over her eyes and then the dark shades in the crease and in the middle of the eye.

I finished the look by using CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Sheer Lipshine in Chance, a fresh pinky shade and then I dabbed a bit of CHANEL Glossimer in Sirocco, a gorgeous beigy gold shade, in the middle of the lips for a soft pop.

    Products used:
CHANEL Sublimage La Creme Texture Supreme, $390.00
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 30, $45.00
CHANEL Long Lasting Concealer in Beige Ivoire, $40.00
Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose, $60.00
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lilium, $58.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Sheer Lipshine in Chance, $32.00
    CHANEL Glossimer in Sirocco, $28.50

JESSICA PARE – MAKEUP BY MAKEUP ARTIST AMY NADINE

2012 costume institute gala jessica pareI was inspired by Jessica’s incredible gold-sequined dress, so I paired it with a metallic eye in rose gold + bronze, accented with wispy lashes and dewy skin with a light rose cheek and lip.

First I prepped the skin with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum for ultimate hydration and CHANEL Ultra Correction Lift Total Eye Lift around her eyes with my ring finger. I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 20 all over her face and neck with the CHANEL Foundation Brush #6 and blended with a Beauty Blender egg-shaped sponge.

I contoured the cheekbone with Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose then added CHANEL Powder Blush in Orchid Rose just along the highest corners of her cheekbones.

I filled in her brows with Damone Roberts pencil in Minx. Next, I dampened my eye shadow brush for intensity and staying power and applied CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Eclosion with the bronze shade along the upper and lower lashline, the rose gold shade on the lid, the gold shade in the crease and the pearl shade in the inner corner and brow bone. I followed with VS Makeup Kajal liner on the waterline then two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara and a dozen Ardell individual flare lashes on each eye.

I lined the entire lip with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Peche and finished with CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Peregrina.

    Products used:
    CHANEL Hydra Beauty Serum, $135.00
CHANEL Ultra Correction Lift Total Eye Lift, $100.00
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige 20, $45.00
    CHANEL Foundation Brush #6, $45.00
Exclusive Creation Soleil Tan de Chanel Luminous Bronzing Powder in Sable Rose, $60.00
CHANEL Powder Blush in Orchid Rose, $43.00
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Eclosion, $58.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Peche, $29.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Peregrina, $32.50

SHAILENE WOODLEY – MAKEUP BY MAKEUP ARTIST GLORIA NOTO

2012 costume institute gala shailene woodleyI started by prepping Shailene’s skin with the new CHANEL Hydra Beauty Creme to give her skin a fresh drink of moisture and give the foundation a soft dewy glow.

I applied the new CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup SPF 15 to further the fresh face glow and leave a natural finish but still give the coverage you need for red carpet. We didn’t want a bright cheek look, but still wanted something more than just natural contours, so we used CHANEL Powder Blush in Plum Attraction on the apples of her cheeks.

On her eyes we buffed out the CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Taupe-Delicat, using the darker color on her outer lid and the lighter on the entire lid and buffed out. CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Noir and Coffee Bean were buffed on a small brush first, then onto the eye line. We kept her brows clean and used a mascara wand to brush them upwards. I applied many layers of the CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. We love her amazingly long and full eyelashes and Shailene prefers to keep that as a main feature focus.

On her lips, we used a CHANEL Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm, and added a hint of a soft peach with CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Chintz to the mix to give a hint of color.

    Products used:
    CHANEL Hydra Beauty Creme, $87.00
CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup SPF 15, $58.00
CHANEL Powder Blush in Plum Attraction, $43.00
CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Taupe-Delicat, $42.00
CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Noir, $29.00
CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Coffee Bean, $29.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm, $32.50
CHANEL Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour in Chintz, $32.50

FLORENCE WELCH – MAKEUP BY CELEBRITY MAKEUP ARTIST LISA AHARON

2012 costume institute gala florence welchI prepped Florence’s skin with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Cream and CHANEL Lotion Confort. Then I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Moisture-Rich Radiance Fluid Makeup SPF 15 in Clair all over her face. Under the eyes, on the high points of cheek bones and under the brow, I used CHANEL Eclat Lumiere Highlighter Face Pen in Beige Tendre. Using CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair, I applied the powder all over, but left out the high points of the cheek bones. I dusted CHANEL Powder Blush in Orchid Rose on the apples of her cheeks.

Using CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadows, I used Lotus as a base color, Safari to contour and Mahogany worked into the lash line on outer top and bottom lash lines. I then used CHANEL Precision Eye Definer in Brun Intense, applied finely on top and blended into the lash line. I then curled her lashes with the CHANEL Precision Eyelash Curler and applied CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir to top lashes. I then used Roux Lip Liner blended with CHANEL Rouge Allure Lipstick in Fatale.

    Products used:
    CHANEL Lotion Confort, $45.00
    CHANEL Hydra Beauty Creme, $87.00
CHANEL Vitalumiere Moisture-Rich Radiance Fluid Makeup SPF 15 in Clair, $55.00
