Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2012 Paris-Bombay Accessories

Chanel Paris-Bombay Accessories

I’ve said it before, I’ve said it again – I’m an accessories girl. I like apparel, but I LOVE accessories. To me, apparel is just something you wear under accessories. The Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2012 Paris-Bombay Accessories were so intricate that they could have had a show unto themselves – oppulent would be an understatement. But for all of their embellishment, Karl Lagerfeld managed to make it look all in good taste.

All of the models wore tikka – jewelry hanging on to the forehead that you attach to your hair – the Chanel version differed on some models by the addition of many chains that hung and draped over the side of the face. Bracelets took on a life of their own with some covering the hand and some with finger attachments. Necklaces ran the gamut from chokers to full bib necklaces to running across the body, across the shoulder and even full body jewelry that looked like a mesh overlay worn over clothing. Fingerless gloves and boots have patterns on them that were reminiscent of mehendi henna patterns normally seen on the hands and feet of brides.

New iterations of the Boy bag had all or one of the following: quilting on the front flap, exotic skins, Double-C clasp, and jewel encrusted thick straps. Some bags were in exotic skins while others looked like they were made of metal, some were in metallic leather while others were heavily jewel encrusted. Chanel showed these little pyramid-esque evening purses that looked like they were made to house treasure. My favorite bag was a snake skin clutch with diamond encrusted clasp. Sandals mimicked the bracelets and looked like foot jewelry while some boots looked like they were extensions of the pants. Gold booties looked inspired by men’s footwear but were every bit feminine. I can’t wait for this collection to be in stores so I can see all of the details in person!

If so, send in your pics!

Chanel Christmas 2011 Accessories Collection

Chanel Christmas 2011 Accessories CollectionI just came across some images of the Chanel Christmas 2011 Accessories collection and I’d be happy to find any of these items in my Christmas stocking or under the tree.  The collection features leather goods in a lavender leather, accessories in a muted color palette of lavender, grey and ivory and items in signature black and white. It’s hard to pick a favorite but I’m partial to anything with pearls or in black  – Santa, I hope you’re listening!  The collection will be in stores in December so start saving your pretty pennies or start dropping those hints :)

Chanel Purse Costumes

chanel purse costume

I love inanimate object costumes – so why not dress up as a Chanel 2.55 purse?  Apparently, that is a thing.  I’m not sure how many you need to see to make it a thing, but I did a quick google search and I think I came up with enough images to deem it a “thing.”  This costume requires a bit more DIY knowledge than the Karl Lagerfeld or Coco Chanel costumes.  You’ll either need to know how to sew or know someone who sews.  Either way, these costumes are awesome.  I wonder if anyone has dressed up as a bottle of Chanel No.5?

Woman Buys Chanel Bag for $10 at a Garage Sale!

Have you seen Fashion Hunters?  It’s a new show on Bravo about the inner workings of  designer consignment shop Second Time Around.  On last night’s episode, a woman brought in a Chanel bag that she bought at a garage sale for $10!  How do you sell a Chanel bag for $10??? Even if you don’t know what it is – which is crazy since the Chanel logo is one of the most recognized in the world – just the quality of the bag, materials and workmanship would make that work more than $10! I need to start going to garage sales…

I Want This Bag! Chanel Cabas Eté

Chanel Cabas Ete 2012 hangbag

For Summer 2012 Chanel is releasing the perfect bag to bring along to the pool or the beach – the Chanel Cabas Eté. The bag is perfect for poolside sessions because there is no leather on the bag, instead, ribbon is woven through the chain and the bag is cotton canvas. The faded colors already look sun-drenched and summer ready – perfect for your fun in the sun. The Chanel Cabas Eté bags will be in Chanel boutiques starting in February 2012.

Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 Ready-to-Wear Collection Details

chanel spring summer 2012Earlier today I posted images from the Chanel spring-summer 2012 ready-to-wear collection and the presentation was beautiful.  Though the pieces looked lovely from afar, you really appreciate the intricate workmanship and beauty of the pieces when you see them close up.  It’s also a great way to see what we can expect in the accessories department – the shoes, jewelry and bags.

For spring 2012, the Chanel accessories all evoke the aquatic theme.  Pearls were everywhere – on the apparel, hair, skin and handbags.  Purses came in the shape of conch shells while other bags used the signature quilting and woven leather chain detail but were in the shape of a wrapped parcel.  Heels of shoes were in the shape of coral and conch shells.  Finally, jewelry took its cues from seashells and coral.  Check out the gallery for more detail shots…
