Back in June I posted about Paper Passion, the fragrance by Geza Schoen, Gerhard Steidl, and Wallpaper* magazine, with packaging by Karl Lagerfeld and Steidl. I received my book/bottle a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post photos but am just now getting around to it.

The packaging is very impressive and a true collector’s piece. I can’t say that I love the fragrance or that it smells like paper, but I still love this fragrance because the packaging and idea behind it are so clever. For those of you wondering what it smells like, it has a very strong alcohol smell to it and reminds me of rubbing alcohol. I know, not very pleasant at first, but the strong alcohol scent fades quickly and you’re left with a very clean, simple scent.

Much ado about Karlisms – you probably already heard it – Karl Lagerfeld is impressed with Victoria Beckham’s size zero physique but not so much with Pippa Middleton’s face.

Karl Lagerfeld shot a glamorous editorial for Harper’s Bazaar inspired by stylish ladies Mona Bismarck and Millicent Rogers.

I found a few images online of the the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura collection so I thought I’d give you a sneak peek. The packaging is adorable and features Karl’s Mon Shu girl stamped all over it.

The collection features seventeen pieces including Shu Uemura favorites “UV Under Base Mousse, eyelash curlers (with a red pad instead of black) and the cleansing oil.” (StyleJunkee). There are some really fun products too like patterned fabric false eyelashes and mulit-colored false eyelashes. The three nail colors will be sold with nail stickers adorned with Mon Shu.

The line will be available in October but I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this online before the release. What do you think of the collection? Is it worth the wait?

Italian fashion writer and style visionary extraordinaire Anna Piaggi passed away yesterday at the age of 81. Piaggi wrote for Italian Vogue and she was ubiquitous in the front row of fashion shows with her eccentric look. Anna Piaggi was also Karl Lagerfeld’s muse and he is quoted as saying “Anna invents fashion. She automatically dresses herself as we will dress ourselves tomorrow.” (AFP)

Yesterday was the launch of the KARL pop-up shop within the Selfridges department store in London, just in time for the Olympics. I found this video online that details the opening, has some Karlisms and interviews with KARL fans and you get a glimpse of the festivities which included KARL macaroons and a KARL flag.
