We’re getting closer to the date of the Chanel Métiers d’Art Paris-Edimbourg Show and Chanel has just released an image of the invitation – not to be confused with AN invitation. The Chanel Métiers d’Art Paris-Edimbourg Show Invitation features an illustration by Karl Lagerfeld of Linlithgow Palace in his signature style. No real clues as to the collection so we’ll have to wait and see.

These pictures have been out for some time now but they are too lovely not to post. The images are of Victoria Beckham shot by Karl Lagerfeld for the November 2012 issue of Elle France. The photos were shot in Coco Chanel’s personal apartment and on the infamous mirrored staircase at 31 Rue Cambon. Many of the photos – the settings and poses – are re-enactments of photos of Coco Chanel herself. The photos are nice but Victoria Beckham is no Coco Chanel.

Here’s Karl Lagerfeld on the Chanel Spring-Summer 2013 Ready-to-Wear. As is customary the interview is full of Karlisms. He may say some things that are out of line sometimes but I love this man. His talents are limitless and yet he is still so humble – he leaves it up to us to determine whether the clothing is chic. Uncle Karl, of course it is!

Yesterday I caught up on Chanel-inspired news and today I’m focusing on Karl Lagerfeld-inspired news…
Let’s start off with a very Happy Belated Birthday to Karl Lagerfeld! Uncle Karl celebrated his 79th birthday on September 10th.
Carine Roitfeld thinks Karl Lagerfeld is a rockstar: “It’s funny, he’s like a rock star now. You go on the street with him and it’s like being with J-Lo.” Female First

If you haven’t shopped the new collection yet, the KARL fall-winter 2012/13 collection is for sale on Net-a-Porter. I’m especially loving the KARL camo! Also, you may notice his new collection includes pearl and lace collars – I beat him to it and showed you how to DIY pearl and lace collars back in April!

Karl Lagerfeld designed the layout for the 26th Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris. He stated: “I like antique dealers and everything the Biennale represents, and I love the Grand Palais, which is my favorite place in Paris. I have so many memories there of Chanel runway shows with their outsized decor.” Karl
Karl Lagerfeld’s Mon Shu character made many appearances at the Karl Lagerfeld for Shu Uemura (SUKL) launch in the form of a balloon, plush dolls, animated character (flying on a lipstick) and nail decals. In discussing Japanese schoolgirls – his inspiration for Mon Shu – Karl Lagerfeld stated: “They dress a little like me, even if this is more exaggerated.” WWD
I may need to start a new column called the Choupette Link List!

Back in June I posted about Paper Passion, the fragrance by Geza Schoen, Gerhard Steidl, and Wallpaper* magazine, with packaging by Karl Lagerfeld and Steidl. I received my book/bottle a few weeks ago and have been meaning to post photos but am just now getting around to it.
The packaging is very impressive and a true collector’s piece. I can’t say that I love the fragrance or that it smells like paper, but I still love this fragrance because the packaging and idea behind it are so clever. For those of you wondering what it smells like, it has a very strong alcohol smell to it and reminds me of rubbing alcohol. I know, not very pleasant at first, but the strong alcohol scent fades quickly and you’re left with a very clean, simple scent.
You can order Paper Passion on Amazon.com.

Much ado about Karlisms – you probably already heard it – Karl Lagerfeld is impressed with Victoria Beckham’s size zero physique but not so much with Pippa Middleton’s face.
Karl Lagerfeld sees himself as a cartoon – and other Karlisms in his interview with The Independent.
