Chanel Cruise 2012/13 Showing at Versailles

Coco Chanel at Château de Versailles photographed by Douglas Kirkland
I love the Chanel cruise shows because Karl always takes us to luxurious locales to soak in the sun.  The past years have taken us to Miami, the Venice Lido, St. Tropez and Antibes.  This year he’s not going to the beach but he’s certainly not skimping on luxury – Lagerfeld is presenting the Chanel Cruise 2012 show at Château de Versailles. The presentation will be set in the gardens which also inspired the set for the Chanel Spring-Summer 2011 collection based on the film Last Year at Marienbad. I can’t wait until the evening of May 14th to see the collection!

Chanel at the 2012 Golden Globes and Art of Elysium Heaven Gala

Julianne Moore Chanel Couture Golden Globe Awards
It’s award show season and it wouldn’t be a true red carpet without Chanel! Last night was the 2012 Golden Globe Awards and Julianne Moore looked lovely in black Chanel couture. The gown that Stella Tenant wore in the Chanel Couture Fall 2012 was one of my favorites and thought it looks lovely on Julianne Moore, I miss the shoulder ruffles.

At the Art of Elysium Gala January Jones and Rachel Bilson wore Chanel cocktail dresses. Rachel Bilson shined in Chanel Spring 2012 RTW and January Jones wore Chanel Resort 2011/12 collection.

Chanel Athletics Spring-Summer 2012 Campaign Shot by Karl Lagerfeld

Chanel Athletics Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

It’s still cold outside but our glossies will soon be featuring the best of what’s to come this spring and summer. Chanel just released their Chanel Athletics Spring-Summer 2012 Campaign Shot images.  The campaign features Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls as the best dressed gymnasts ever, was styled by Carine Roitfeld and shot by Karl Lagerfeld.

This is the second Chanel campaign styled by Carine Roitfeld but these shots are not as whimsical as the campaign featuring Freja Beha. The Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 ready-to-wear collection was inspired by the sea, so not surprisingly the sea is prominent in most of the photos. The campaign was shot at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France – the location of the Chanel 2011/2012 Cruise Collection.  The photos are beautiful and represent the simplicity and elegance that is the Chanel brand.

CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel

CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel What’s better than skiing in the French Alps? Shopping at the Chanel Ephemeral Boutique après-ski in the heart of the Courchevel resort. The fashion house has selected a stripped-down, neutral space as its winter home, a blank canvas on which to project a new story of luxury: contemporary, authentic and elegant.

The entrance is dominated by four striking profiles of Mademoiselle Chanel in white ceramic, each towering over two metres high (which look similar to the ones at the Boon Ephemeral boutique). Inside, the proportions of the 180m² space are equally as arresting. Spanning 17 metres from the threshold to the far wall, the boutique extends along a narrow lengthwise perspective, accentuated by almost minimalist décor that nonetheless manages to steer clear of cold. The ambiance is warmed by the honeyed tones of sycamore flooring: a nod to the “Exclusifs de CHANEL” fragrance line.

The boutique basks in the contrasts of concrete, light boxes, black varnish, neutral hues and flashes of colour. The sheen of navy-blue panels on the walls calls to mind the aesthetic of Karl Lagerfeld’s 2011/12 Cruise collection, showcased here alongside the 2012 Spring- Summer collection. The volumes and depth of the space are enhanced by metal plating that wraps around the displays and traces a stark line along the entire length of the ceiling. A huge surprise is in store at the far end of the boutique: nestled at the adrenalin-fuelled base of the slopes, the premises afford majestic views over the entire Courchevel valley, flooded with the soft, warm glow of natural light.

Stepping over the threshold of the boutique, the visitor is effortlessly drawn into a space of unexpected levels displaying accessories from the collections along with an exceptional array of Fine Jewellery and Watchmaking pieces. Meanwhile, the Ready-to-Wear collection beckons from an island of matte-black corrugated metal. The nearby fitting rooms – hung with yellow to recall the palette of the 2011/12 Cruise collection, and iconic CHANEL burgundy – intrude in a cozy lounge installed with iPad® inviting the visitor to delve deeper into the world of CHANEL, explore the collections, watch fashion shows and read up on the latest Chanel News. Not much of a surprise there since we know Karl loves the iPad!CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel CHANEL Ephemeral Boutique in Courchevel

Dry Off With Chanel

chanel towel

This is not the first Chanel towel set, and certainly not the last.  So long as there are cruise collections, jet setters will need equally chic towels with matching totes.  This is one towel that I would definitely NOT leave pool-side or on the beach though.  I would much rather prefer to see it hanging in my bathroom.  How luxurious would it be to dry off with a Chanel towel after your shower…after washing with Chanel No.5 bath gel of course!

Chanel Cruise 2011/12 Sneaker

chanel cruise 2011 sneaker
Every season Chanel releases a sneaker and for Cruise 2011/12, Chanel has opted for a running sneaker silhouette. This particular silhouette looks like a model from the 1990s – Chanel seems to save its technological developments for its beauty and watch categories. It’s ok though because this sneaker is proof that putting double C’s on something automatically makes them better!

Carine Roitfeld Styled the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 Campaign

karl lagerfeld and carine roitfeld

Carine Roitfeld is making an encore appearance as Chanel ad campaign stylist.  She’s teamed up again with Karl Lagerfeld to style the Chanel spring-summer 2012 ad campaign.  Lagerfeld said the campaign is “all about athletics and the sea.…It’s very modern sportif and in black-and-white.”  The campaign was shot at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc (where the Chanel Cruise 2011/12 collection was shown) in Antibes, France with  Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls featured in the ads.  I can’t wait to see these images.  The ads that Carine Roitfeld styled for Fall were so creative I’m looking forward to see what this dynamic duo came up with next!
