Chanel Jardin de Camélias Collection

chanel Jardin de Camélias collection

Since 1923, Coco Chanel made the camellia an element of her signature style and it has long since become a signature for the brand. Chanel Fine Jewelry always has a dedicated collection centering around the house’s signature icon and the newest collection, Jardin de Camélias, is a stunning array of brooches, rings, necklaces and bracelets made in the most precious of gemstones. The different interpretations of the camellia are more beautiful than the next – it’s hard for me to pick a favorite – I would be happy with any one of them! Aren’t they gorgeous?

CHANAILS! Miss May 2012 Chanel Manicure, Vintage Gift Wrap & Camellias

miss nails did may 2012 calendar chanel manicure
MISS is back again with more CHANAILS for their MISS Nails Did 2012 calendar. Nothing says spring like flowers and if you’re going floral – whether on your jeans, kicks or nails – they might as well be Chanel-inspired. Since color is huge for spring, and in particular for 2012, we opted for bright vintage Chanel gift wrap for our background and authentic Chanel camellia brooches to accompany our CHANAILS. I hope you’re having a great spring and let’s get ready for summer!

Les Exclusifs de Chanel: Gardénia

chanel gardeniaOne of my favorite scents from Les Exclusifs de Chanel is Gardénia.  I’ve been waiting for the right moment to get it and I think that the light, fresh scent is perfect for spring and summer.  I tend to stay away from heavier scents once the weather gets warmer and Gardénia’s light floral scent is lovely in the hotter months.  Created by Master Perfumer Ernest Beaux in 1925 (also the creator of Chanel N°5), Chanel Gardénia is an ode to the camellia, Mademoiselle Chanel’s favorite flower. Gardénia is definitely on my shopping list this spring.

Chanel Camélia Brodé – Le Film

I love Chanel Fine Jewelry – especially the pieces inspired by Coco Chanel’s favorite flower, the camellia. Chanel has dreamt up a sparkling, ethereal floral design that is a delicate embroidery of diamonds with gold that dresses the skin in a precious lace. Check out the video for the Chanel Fine Jewelry Camélia Brodé collection below…

Chanel Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear Show Invite

In 2 short days Chanel will unveil its Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection and I can’t wait to see it!  Chanel unveiled an image of their show invitation (pictured above) and from the looks of it, maybe Chanel’s iconic Camellia is the inspiration for the collection.  Since it’s a spring collection, floral is always “on trend” so it’s a possibility.  From the looks of the invite, it seems that Uncle Karl is still liking the raw street art feel that imbued his Chanel Soho Boutique reopening.  All I can do is speculate – we’ll see in 2 days!

Chanel is Bringing Lipstick Back: Introducing Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour

Chanel is Bringing Lipstick Back: Vanessa Paradis for Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour

Chanel is Bringing Lipstick Back: Vanessa Paradis for Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour

They say lipstick sales are “recession proof” – in fact – sales usually go up. Why? Because it’s an inexpensive way to look beautiful and freshen up your look. Chanel is taking note and bringing lipstick back to a young customer base that is infatuated with lip gloss. This March, Chanel is introducing Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lip Colour – and bringing back the lost art of sexily applying your lipstick.

Vanessa Paradis, the French actress (and Johnny Depp’s leading lady) is the face of the campaign and this is not the first time Paradis has worked with Chanel.  Andrea D’Avack, president of Chanel Fragrance & Beauté, stated: “Vanessa has been very linked to the house over the years, and she represents a young, sophisticated woman who we also believe will be the consumer for Rouge Coco.”  Print and TV ads have been shot though it’s still unclear whether TV spots will be placed in the U.S.

The Rouge Coco line has 30 shades and each hue is named after an influential part of Coco Chanel’s life – Camelia, Mademoiselle, and Paris – to name a few.  The shades come in one of four color families Roses-Pinks; Reds-Corals; Violets-Berries, and Neutrals-Browns and will be available in different global markets.

Like many Chanel cosmetics, the packaging takes it’s cue from Chanel’s history with black and gold detailing, interlocking C’s and the Chanel name embossed into each lipstick bullet.  The Rouge Coco collection debuts in March with each lipstick retailing for $30 at fine retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Chanel.com.

Chanel Fine Jewelry Camélia Collection

*I know proper grammar dictates the use of the word “were” not “was” but the title is a tongue in cheek reference to the song Rich Girl song*
chanel fine jewelry camelia collection
By now you probably know that I love all things Chanel, and their new fine jewelry Camélia Collection is no exception. The Camélia was Mlle. Chanel’s favorite flower and she adorned herself with this bloom often, so much so, that the Camélia is an important part of the company’s branding. The collection features 3 themes: Camélia Sculpté (sculpted black onyx and white cacholong with diamonds), Fil de Camélia (white gold with diamonds) and Camélia Ajouré (yellow gold). I love them all and though they all feature the Camélia in the design, each collection is unique and breath-taking. The Camélia Sculpté collection is a twist on Mlle. Chanel’s favorite color combination: “Feminine and delicate, . . . [the Camélia Sculpté collection] draws on the refinement and perfect harmony of the contrast between black and white, the two fundamental colours [sic] of Chanel.” The Fil de Camélia collection is for the girls who consider diamonds to be their best friend. “This is an irregular line that emphasizes the perfect curves of the iconic Chanel flower and the faultess contours of its petals.” And finally, the Camélia Ajouré collection is a very modern, airy interpretation of the iconic flower. “The feminine curves of the Chanel flower form a breezy mesh of fluide geometric effects and stylized lace impressions on the skin.” I want one of everything please!
