Images have started surfacing online of the lovely compact Chanel has produced for the Versailles de Chanel Cruise 2012/13 makeup collection. The compact features an embossed relief of an architectural detail from the Château de Versailles. Based on a post I did back in May, I was able to find some of the other products used to create the runway look that are already part of Chanel’s makeup collection namely Chanel Le Vernis in Tendresse, Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Pétale and Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Evasion. A limited edition eye color was created for the collection but as far as I can tell, no images have been released – though we can tell that it will be a rose color. For the full list of products used by Peter Philips to achieve the runway look visit my previous post – Chanel Cruise 2012/13 Show Beauté.

The end of October was a bit busy for me because my daughter was celebrating Halloween for the first time with trick or treating and events at school and I took some time to spend with my family. But, Chanel news doesn’t stop coming. Here are some of my favorite Chanel-related items…

Karl Lagerfeld sketched a “no smoking” sign but it’s not your typical sign. However, he was not making a statement about unhealthy habits, instead he was noting all the YSL references on many runways and he was stating that you would find a “smoking” – the french term for tuxedo – on his runway. Lagerfeld stated: “We don’t have to do smoking. Hedi Slimane really does it well.” WWD

LE VOLUME DE CHANEL
Elegance is elevated to the extreme with new LE VOLUME DE CHANEL Mascara, a high-precision mascara that achieves instant volume with intense colour. In a single stroke, its innovative formula expands and plumps lashes to their fullest. Carbon black pigments deliver lush colour that adheres to lashes, while Camelia Oil nourishes, protects and moisturizes. New Chanel exclusive ‘Snowflakes’ brush articulates each lash; long bristles evenly coat lashes while small soft bristles separate and build volume, creating an eye-opening effect. The result: A modern lash look for drama that makes a bold yet elegant statement.

Today Chanel released three teaser videos of the new Chanel N°5 ad campaign featuring Brad Pitt. The three videos each show an image of Brad Pitt next to a question which he reads. We are told we’ll get the answer next Monday, October 15th, 12.01am Paris time. I can’t wait to see this campaign because “for the first time” a man will be the face of a women’s fragrance. Not only a first for Chanel, but a first for the industry. Here are the three videos – can’t wait to get the answers on Monday!
Pearls played a huge part in the Chanel Spring-Summer 2013 Ready-to-Wear so it’s no surprise that the makeup was luminous and iridescent like pearls. I loved the large pearls in the models’ hair – very similar to the pearls from the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 ready-to-wear collection only larger. To learn how to make similar pins, check out my post on DIY Chanel-Inspired pearl hairpins.
Usually the first thing I look for is the new Le Vernis but all the images I could find looked like the models were just wearing a clear top coat or a traditional French manicure. We learn below that there is a new color that was used – not sure what Eastern Light looks like but I’ll keep you posted!

Poudre Universelle Libre – Natural Finish Loose Powder
New peach shade lights the face with an incandescent warmth. $52.00

I love that each holiday season gold plays a key role. I’ve been waiting for months for the new Illustion d’Ombre in Apparence to come out – I can’t wait to wear it! Fortunately, we don’t need to wait much longer, the ÉCLATS DU SOIR DE CHANEL will be available at CHANEL.com, CHANEL Boutiques and department stores in October 2012.
This year Chanel did not have any actual events at their NYC boutiques, instead they launched Les Twin-Sets de Chanel to commemorate FNO and were open a bit later. I stopped by the boutique to see the colors first hand and they were very pretty up close and personal. I was able to only get one photo before the security guard informed me that I couldn’t take photos so sadly, I did not get a picture of the lipsticks. If you live near a Chanel boutique I would definitely stop in to see the new colors – I especially love La Provocante & Provocation. Which are your favorites?
New ROUGE ALLURE Luminous Intense Lip Colour represents the next generation of the classic ROUGE ALLURE lipstick. Its stunning colour is the result of a concentration of ultra-thin pigments, specially designed to magnify shade intensity. Lighter hues have a unique presence, revealing nuances and depth. Darker tones heighten the drama, with audacity and pure elegance for an ultra-feminine effect.
Colour brilliance is only part of the story of new ROUGE ALLURE Luminous Intense Lip Colour. Special hydrating agents and antioxidants, rich in green tea and sappan wood, leave lips supple and protected for lasting comfort, while tea butter ensures colour endures for the ultimate wear. A range of sixteen seductively intense shades, from a delicate beige to a black-red.
