Chanel Fall-Winter 2012/13 Haute Couture Look Book

Chanel Fall-Winter 2012/13 Haute Couture Look Book
Chanel’s fall-winter 2012/13 haute couture look book features model-turned-musician-turned-model Jamie Bochert. The look book was shot by Karl Lagerfeld as is customary. For fall-winter 2012/13 the photos are in black and white and in some ways, I feel the lack of color actually makes the details stand out more. Rather than being distracted by color, you are able to focus on what is important. Jamie Bochert’s statuesque silhouette is the perfect canvas for the Chanel Fall-Winter 2012/13 haute couture collection. See the rest of the images below…

Chanel 2012 2013 Fall Winter Haute Couture Show Makeup by Peter Philips

The makeup at the Chanel 2012 2013 Fall Winter Haute Couture Show was beautiful as always but the nail art stole the show.  The interweb is abuzz with Chanel’s foray into nail art.  The two colors featured are May (Spring 2012) and Silver – a limited edition color from Spring 2007.  Don’t fret, silver is a pretty easy color to come by these days so you can replicate the manicure pretty easily if you want to.

As for the makeup, Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup used the following CHANEL products to create the runway beauty looks:

Chanel Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2012/13 Runway Collection Review

Chanel Haute Couture Fall Winter 2012 2013

Last week Chanel presented its Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2012/13 collection entitled “New Vintage.” The “New Vintage” invitation featured an illustration by Karl Lagerfeld of a young Coco Chanel. Based on the invitation I thought I would see references from the early designs of Coco Chanel. Instead, Karl gave us a collection of instant classics that took us through the decades.

The most obvious reference was the 1940s with all of the models sporting snoods in their hair. It was actually an interesting presentation because Coco Chanel actually didn’t design during the 1940s – she closed her atelier in 1939 at the beginning of WWII. In many ways, this collection was Karl Lagerfeld’s interpretation of what her designs may have looked like had she designed during that time.

Though the 1940s references were very prevalent in the shapes such as trousers and the Old Hollywood glamorous dresses, I also saw hints of the 1960s and 1970s. The boxy swing dresses and coats reminded me of the 1960s and the blouses, tunics and long skirts reminded me of the 1970s.

The collection was muted in black, ivory and grey with pops of mauve and pink to lighten things up. I liked the unexpected hit of pastel for fall/winter. The gowns were lovely with intricate floral details and I would love to see some of these dresses on a red carpet. Please view the collection for yourself below – more to come on accessories and beauty!
