Demi Moore was recently spotted wearing a dress from the Chanel 2012 resort collection at the Five premiere in New York. The blocks of color on the neckline and hem are reminiscent of shards of sea glass. I like the dress and there’s no denying that Demi looks great but I’m not a fan of the way she wore the dress. I think the length bothers me. On the runway the dress was shorter – it’s hard to tell because of the tall boots – but it looks like the dress fell right below the models’ knees. On Demi Moore, it hits her mid-calf which is a difficult length – even for Demi. I think I would have liked this a lot better if it were shorter on her. And I wish her hair was styled or up. What do you think?

Emma Stone looked stunning in Chanel Haute Couture, from the Spring-Summer 2011 collection, for the Los Angeles premier of The Help. The dress is relatively unchanged from the runway version though it looks a tad longer. Emma Stone matched her dress with a Chanel purse and Chanel Fine jewelry and nude pumps which elongated her leg. Her soft makeup and ginger locks were a beautiful complement to the dress. I’m not sure if it’s just a lighting issue, but the color of the dress looks different on the red carpet. On the runway, the chiffon looked grey, while on the red carpet it looks greenish-grey. Not sure if it’s the same color or not but both look lovely.

Chanel favorite Clemence Poesy wore Chanel haute couture from the spring-summer 2011 collection to the Paris premiere of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2. I was not a fan of the pants-under-skirts theme of the collection so I’m happy that she did away with the pants and opted for the skirt with bare legs. I don’t love the silver shoes but I think it’s because I’m so obsessed with the flats from the couture show that I won’t like anything as compared to them.

There were many starlets that wore Chanel Beauté on the red carpet at the 2011 Costume Institute Gala – and there wore those that wore haute couture. I’ve always wondered why more actresses didn’t wear Chanel couture on the red carpet and last night the ladies did not disappoint. Chanel was worn by many including Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue and Chanel’s newest pretty young thing, Blake Lively. I think my favorite Chanel ensembles were worn by Janelle Monae and Frida Pinto. My lease favorite was worn by Kirsten Dunst. I’m sure up close the dress is spectacular but it looked a little frumpy on Ms. Dunst. What do you think? Which dress was your favorite?

Saoirse Ronan, the star of Hanna, wore a dress from the Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance collection to the NYC premiere of her film. I think she wore it well. She seems really young though and I think the dress may be a bit old for her. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, I just would have loved to see her in something else. What do you think?

For anyone that’s a regular M.I.S.S. reader, you know that I’ve been keeping close tabs on the Chanel films coming out this year. Coco Avant Chanel premiered in Paris on Monday night at the Champs-Elysées theater. Audrey Tautou, who plays Coco Chanel in the film, wore a Chanel couture floral bustier dress (um, what else would she wear??). Tautou’s co-star Alessandro Nivola, who plays Chanel’s love interest Boy Capel, was at the premier – though he got rid of the moustache he had to sport for the film. The pair definitely look cute together and I’m guessing they’ll have great chemistry on film.
Coco Avant Chanel documents Chanel’s early life from her childhood in an orphanage and ends with her debut runway show. The film is set to release in the U.S. later in the year – I can’t wait to see it! Images
