Diane Kruger has had a longstanding relationship with Karl Lagerfeld and the House of Chanel. In a recent interview, she discussed how the relationship began and how she feels about Uncle Karl…
He’s like my stepfather; I love Karl. He’s the funniest person I know. He’s a big inspiration actually…I’m not a very good impersonator, my friends maybe, but not famous people. I can do Karl very well, Karl Lagerfeld, because he speaks the same in every language….I had modeled for Chanel quite a bit when I was younger, and I’ve known Karl since I was 16. When I started to act, they’d lend me clothes, and Karl designed a haute-couture gown for me that I wore to the premiere of ‘Troy’ in Cannes. I still have the sketch. I look at him as a mentor.

Talk about clout! A mere two days after the Chanel Spring 2011 Haute Couture show, Diane Kruger was spotted wearing one of the looks to a charity dinner in Paris. She kept the look bare with a bracelet, a pair of black heels and a cute black clutch. The look on the runway was paired with those gorgeous pointy toe flats that all the models wore and large post earrings. Kruger even sported a similar hairstyle to the one on the runway. I like the idea of not wearing a necklace because the neckline of the dress is so pretty but I think she could have worn some earrings (if she wore some, then I can’t see them and maybe something more noticeable would have been nice).

Chanel Haute Couture made its way onto the red carpet in LA tonight at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards. Both Diane Kruger and Sarah Jessica Parker wore Chanel Haute Couture and both looked lovely. SJP’s gown was one of my favorites of the night – the neckline and back of the dress are stunning. I’m always surprised at how few women wear Chanel on the red carpet, I’m glad that 2 women took the leap this year.
