Chanel’s Shade Parade Coolest Nail Colour Video Ever!

I’m a huge fan of Le Vernis de Chanel and I just came across this very clever video features some of Chanel’s best sellers.  The nail colours are featured on hand models that do little finger dances like cabaret showgirls.  I love this video – I’ll stop now – just check it out!

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet & Beauté des Ongles Matte Top Coat

chanel rouge allure velvet lipstick for fall 2011

For fall, Chanel is unveiling a new matte lipstick – Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet. The soft, yet intense rich matte color is created with the inclusion of mother-of-pearl pigments. The introductory collection of Rouge Allure Velvet includes eight shades La Ravissante, La Câline, La Raffinée, L’Exubérante, La Fascinate, La Somptueuse, La Sensuelle, L’Exquise. The non-drying matte Rouge Allure Velvet comes in a sophisticated click-open case.  The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lip colours will retail for $32.

The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet collection will also include 3 Le Vernis shades, Pirate, Rose Caché, Rose Exubérant, and the introduction of Beauté des Ongles – a new topcoat that will give any shade of nail polish a matte finish.  The limited edition topcoat and Le Vernis shades will retail for $25.

I’m excited to see this collection. I’m a fan of matte lip and nail products, I think they look really sophisticated. I also love the feel of this ad – it’s so simple and chic – very Chanel. The lighting, especially the use of the spotlight, creates a very femme fatale effect.

Chanel’s Fashion’s Night Out! Chanel Introduces Les Jeans de Chanel

In my NY Fashion Week prep I was researching the Fashion’s Night Out events and of course, the first thing I looked for was the Chanel event.  Last time I was in NY for FNO, I stopped by the Chanel boutique for the Jade and Jade Rose manicures. When I heard that Chanel was unveiling a new line of Le Vernis for FNO and giving manicures at the store, I knew immediately where I would be on FNO (just deciding which of the Chanel boutiques to go to).

Today Chanel announced the new nail colour collection, created by Peter Philips, that is releasing on FNO – Les Jeans de Chanel!  Though Chanel herself didn’t wear jeans – denim is something that she would love today.  It totally fits within her mode of working – taking something casual and making it chic, co-opting menswear and making it feminine and making comfortable clothing.  Les Jeans de Chanel is a trio of denim-inspired blues: Blue Rebel, Blue Boy and Coco Blue.  Without having seen them in person yet, based on the photo my favorites are Blue Rebel and Blue Boy.

Les Jeans de Chanel goes on sale on September 8th in Chanel boutiques and on Chanel.com.

Chanel Fall 2011 Nail Polish Sneak Peek: Graphite, Quartz & Peridot

chanel fall 2011 nail polish graphite, peridot, quartz

We learned back in March that one of the Chanel Nail Colours was called Graphite.  Our favorite luxury nail artist, Sophy Robson, received a set of Chanel’s Fall 2011 nail colours and she was nice enough to give us a sneak peek of all the new shades!  The colors, Graphite, Quartz & Peridot are all very pearly and as the names indicate, shine like the minerals they are named after.  I suppose its fitting considering the Fall 2011 collection was set amidst black smoking rocks.

The colors look nice but I’ve always favored flat color to pearly shades (with the exception of Black Pearl because well, it’s supposed to look like pearl!) Le Vernis will be in stores in July.  What do you think of the colors? Will you get them?  Which is your favorite?

Chanel Summer 2011 Makeup: Les Fleurs D’Ete

les fleurs d ete de chanel summer 2011 makeup collection

For the Summer 2011 makeup palette, Peter Philips was inspired by summer flowers. The pretty pinks, peaches and soft yellows look like they will go beautifully with a healthy tan. Back in November we gave you a sneak peek of Mimosa, the newest Chanel color that will surely cause a commotion. Here, we can see the three new colors. They’re all pretty but Mimosa is by far the most unique. It’s making me want to lay poolside and sip one… just a few more months! Here’s a breakdown of all the new colors…

Chanel Introduces Chanel Confidential

Since Peter Philips has taken the helm at Chanel as Global Makeup Creative Director it has been one non-stop stream of fabulous beauty products from Le Vernis Jade to the reintroduction of Coco Rouge lipsticks to Chanel robots.  Now, beginning at the end of February we’ll have a chance to see inside the makeup studio with the launch of CHANEL Confidential, a digital platform dedicated to CHANEL makeup showcasing Peter Philips’ universe and creations.

The animation of Chanel’s flying makeup robots will also be accessible on ChanelConfidential.com (which you actually already saw on Nowness and on LaChanelphile) but maybe there is an extended version on the Chanel site?  Also from the preview it looks like we’ll get makeup tips straight from the source.  Whatever the case, I will be there!

Chanel Spring 2011 Makeup Collection: Les Perles de Chanel

When I think of Chanel, a few things immediately come to mind: black/white, camelias, the quilted 2.55 handbag, and of course – pearls – lots of them.  Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel believed the light-reflecting property of pearls enhanced a woman’s natural beauty by bringing a delicate luminosity to her skin.  For Spring 2011, Peter Philips was inspired by Coco Chanel’s love of pearls and so he created Les Perles de Chanel.

We got a preview of the makeup collection during the Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear show but now we have a full look at all the products.  I especially love Le Vernis Black Pearl, the Glossimer in Aragonite, the Shimmering Grey eyeliner and the eyeshadows.  Les Perles de Chanel will be available in department stores, Chanel boutiques and on Chanel.com in January 2011.
