Chanel “Obsession” by Cyrille de Vignemont

chanel obsession by Cyrille de Vignemont

Still from Chanel "Obsession" by Cyrille de Vignemont

Cyrille de Vignemont created a video for Chanel featuring British model and Karl Lagerfeld muse Edie Campbell. The video plays on the duality that is Chanel – black/white, masculine/feminine – using paneled mirrors reminscent of the ones at 31 Rue Cambon. On his website de Vignemont stated “Conceived as a mirror piece, the film illustrates Coco Chanel’s famous sentence ‘Luxury is something beautiful inside and out’ and plays on the star model’s identities: girl or boy, eternal or modern, but always marked by CHANEL Obsession.”

The styling in this video is impeccable and the song is gets under your skin and stays there – in a good way.
Cyrille de Vignemont stated that Obsession is also available as an interactive iPad app but I haven’t been able to find anything on the App store yet. I’ll keep you posted! For now, enjoy the video and join me in obsessing over all the gorgeous Chanel…

Applause: The Third Magnum Ice Cream Commercial by Karl Lagerfeld

Applause, the third and final Magnum Ice Cream film directed by Karl Lagerfeld is now out. It features Rachel Bilson as a world-renowned ballerina who, when unexpectedly faced with an over-zealous throng of fans evades them all to savor a moment for herself by enjoying a Magnum Ice Cream bar. She even pulls away from kissing Baptiste Giabiconi for a bite of her ice cream. I’ve had the ice cream bars – they are tasty – but I don’t know if they could distract anyone from kissing Baptiste! :) View the video below…

Window World by Karl Lagerfeld – The Short Film

After a controversial short film for the Paris-Shanghai collection, Karl Lagerfeld skipped doing a fashion film for the Paris-Byzance collection. I guess Lagerfeld couldn’t keep himself from shooting a short film though and what we have now is the release of Window World, Uncle Karl’s latest fashion film for Chanel.

Window World features Magdalena Frackowiak, Barbara Dvorakova and Baptiste Giabiconi as mannequins in a store window with music fit for a suspense movie in the background. If Mannequin and Psycho had a baby it would be Window World. Not Karl’s best work but entertaining nonetheless.

Chanel Paris-Shanghai Diary of the Collection Videos

La Chanelphile: Chanel “métiers d’art” Paris Shanghai collection Diary of a collection

A little while back we gave you a sneak peek of the Paris-Shanghai collection.  Tomorrow the Short Movie made by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2010 Paris-Shanghai premiers and the following day the fashion show for the collection will take place in Shanghai. I can’t wait!

In the mean time, we can keep our appetites sated by watching the following videos that are part of the “Diary of the Collection.” Each episode is great because it gives a glimpse of the inner workings of Chanel from Karl sketching, to behind the scenes views of shooting the press kit and short film, to samples getting packed for the fashion show.  It’s so exciting to see how things are done at the House of Chanel.  Watch the episodes below…
