To commemorate the re-opening of the Chanel Soho Boutique, Chanel not only released a Beauté collection, but also released exclusive footwear, leather goods and ready to wear pieces. The ready to wear pieces include a lambskin and “fantasy fur” coat featuring Crystal Renn in a shot made famous because her famous body was cropped out. (I personally don’t think it was a big deal – I prefer cropping to photo shop any day). The leather goods are handbags of different shades and sizes such as metallic python (in brown, red and light grey), black calfskin and caviar (in black and red). The calfskin bags feature a tweed lining, and all the bags have a “CHANEL Soho 2010” signature hidden inside – just to make it official. My favorite of the bunch is the footwear, especially the red python classic ballerina and the weekender boot made of black calfskin and python. Those boots were definitely made for stomping all weekend long in your favorite city. Take a look at the full collection below. To purchase, please visit the Chanel Soho Boutique at 139 Spring Street, 212-334-0055 or email SoHo2010Exclusives@chanelusa.com.

Art Imitates Life: Chanel’s Soho Graffiti
Earlier this year in January 2010, the Chanel Soho boutique was tagged with pink spray paint. Last week, the Chanel Soho boutique re-opened on Fashion’s Night Out. As part of the festivities, and to avoid cluttering the newly designed shop, two temporary tents were erected at the corner of Wooster & Spring streets. Inside the tents, Chanelphiles were greeted by a digital interactive graffiti where guests were invited to “tag” with Chanel spray cans.
There has been no official word on what inspired the digital graffiti but my hunch is that Uncle Karl took some inspiration from the real vandalism that occurred at the Soho boutique and elevated it to a whole new level. It’s not the first time that Karl has taken Coco Chanel’s infamous quote to heart and looked to the “streets” for inspiration:
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”

Le Petite Coco Limited Edition Rag Doll
For the re-opening of the Soho Chanel boutique Karl Lagerfeld designed Le Petite Coco – a Coco Chanel rag doll. The doll is limited edition and I’m not sure whether the doll is for sale, or whether is was just created for the window display the way the Chanel Bearbricks were a few years ago. All I know is I want one!!!
For more images of the star-studded Soho boutique opening, check out the gallery on the Chanel blog (and check out the Chanel spraypaint cans!).

Karl Lagerfeld Hosts Dinner For Soho Boutique Re-Opening
On September 9th, Karl Lagerfeld will jump-start New York Fashion Week with a chic dinner to celebrate the re-opening of the Soho Chanel boutique. Approximately 300 guests will be in attendance and I’m sure it will be a who’s who of the young, rich and beautiful. What I would do for an invite!

Take It From A Chanelphile, Graffiti’s For Chumps
The Chanel boutique on Spring Street in Soho, NYC was tagged by a kid with pink spray paint. Don’t get me wrong, I love graffiti and street art but this is just dumb. It doesn’t look good, you can’t even make out a tag – it’s just a kid making a mess. It’s going to take a lot more than some pink spray paint to make those window displays look bad!

M.I.S.S. NYFW: Fashion’s Night Out at Chanel Soho

Fashion's Night Out at Chanel Soho - Jade Nail Collection
Fashion’s Night Out was like a big party in the streets of NYC. We started out uptown on 57th Street where all the luxury stores have flagships and then made our way down to Soho. The scene uptown was very subdued compared to the partying in the streets of Soho. From Opening Ceremony’s block party to the Kid Cudi listening party at A Bathing Ape, the streets were jam packed with shoppers looking for good deals and celebrity sightings. One of my favorite destinations? The Chanel Soho boutique.
Just in time for FNO, Chanel debuted its Jade nail colour collection: Jade and Jade Rose. A pale pink and pale green, the Jade collection is a perfect match of the elements that inspired the colors.
As part of the FNO festivities Chanel offered free manicures using Jade and Jade Rose at the Soho boutique. People sipped champagne, did some shopping, and got their nails did – all while shaking to the beats provided by Alexa Chung. Having stopped by a few FNO events, this was definitely one of my favorites. You can find the Chanel Jade nail colour collection and Chanel boutiques and online at Chanel.com.
