Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall 2011 Paris-Byzance Show Invitation

Ah! It’s time for my favorite Chanel collection of the year – the Chanel Métiers D’Art Pre-Fall collection.  Each year, Karl Lagerfeld selects a locale to inspire his pre-fall collection and this year he was inspired by Byzantium because of Coco Chanel’s love of Byzantine-style jewelry.  The show is on Tuesday, December 7th.  Stay tuned for more info – I can’t wait to see this show!

Karl Lagerfeld to Design Capsule Collection for Macy’s

Macy’s is hopping on the designer-for-less bandwagon by initiating  a one-off designer collection next year designed by Karl Lagerfeld.  The capsule collection will be produced in limited quantities and sold in approximately 250 Macy’s stores and online on Macys.com in September 2011.  “The collections will rotate every two months and will start in February with Kinder Aggugini, a London-based designer who has worked with John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein, Costume National and Versace.”

I’m thinking Karl’s capsule collection will look more like his own eponymous line rather than lines he designs for like Chanel and Fendi.  If so, I have to say I’m not the biggest fan.  However, if he takes any inspiration from Chanel I will definitely be excited to see how the collection turns out – and may even have to get some pieces!
