Chanel Introduces Hydra Beauty Skin Care Line

chanel hydra beauty
For the promise of intensely hydrated, supple skin, Chanel introduces HYDRA BEAUTY — an innovative range of moisturizers that responds to the hydration needs of every woman, regardless of her age or skin concern.

The camellia, Mademoiselle Chanel’s beloved flower and icon of the House of Chanel, symbolizes loveliness and longevity, not only because of its soft, delicate petals, but for its ability to bloom in the winter. Chanel Research felt compelled to study this ‘rose of winter’ and discovered its remarkable hydrating qualities.

For the first time, Chanel reveals Camellia Alba PFA, a targeted ingredient that promotes optimal moisture retention. When combined with an improved, more powerful version of Blue Ginger PFA, a powerful antioxidant, the perfect synergy of ultimate hydration and protection is created. Hydration, protection and comfort for radiant, supple skin, like a camellia petal.

With added Hyaluronic Acid, the Sérum immediately hydrates and protects the skin. Fresh and soothing, it comforts and boosts overall radiance. Ideal for all skin types.
1.0 oz. $97.50
1.7 oz. $135.00

The Crème, with added shea butter and canola oil derivatives, will quench the driest, thirstiest skin. Ideal for normal-to-dry skin.
1.7 oz. $87.00

A light, fresh, cooling texture bathes skin in hydration for comfort, protection and increased radiance. Ideal for normal skin.
1.7 oz. $87.00

The Hydra Beauty skin care line will be in stores beginning in April 2012.

Peter Philips Interview from Metro

Metro sat down to chat with Peter Philips about the Chanel Spring-Summer 2012 beauty collection he created. Here are his thoughts as reprinted from Metro:

The inspiration behind his spring 2012 collection: “I chose spring horizons [at] sunset and sunrise, as it can be the most amazing moment of the day. I was afraid it would be a bit kitschy, mellow and corny but it’s also very beautiful. You can do anything you want with the products in the collection, whether you want to look sophisticated and intense or fresh and funky.”

Introducing the latest Le Vernis nail trilogy:
April, May and June:  “The most classical shade and the first to be released is April. Spring is coming, but you’re still in a wintry mood, so you want a darker shade that’s flattering and not too flashy. May is pink-y and girlie, and June has a beach-y feel to it. People will have gotten a bit of sun and color on their skin and can start wearing brighter colors. … The shades are anticipated not because of me, but because they’re Chanel. I have the advantage that I can link my creations with the fashion show — it gives them a reason to exist.”

His love of sparkles: “I don’t have a favorite color, I adore makeup in general. I love a good skin-tone beige and anything sparkly and dramatic.”

Philips’ Top 3 tips:

Invest in an eyelash curler: “All women should have an eyelash curler. This also applies to women who don’t wear makeup. It’s not a dangerous tool, although a lot of people are terrified of it. One pinch to the lashes can work miracles as it opens up your eyes and makes you look fresh and awake. Add some mascara, and you’re ready to go.”

Apply just the right amount:
“It’s a criminal offense to wear too much makeup, just as it is to wear too little. It’s all about striking a balance and wearing a look with confidence. Something that always looks wrong is not blending your foundation in so that you can see the line between the face and the neck. It’s so easy to avoid: Blend it out with your fingers and check the lighting in your bathroom.”

Remember, makeup can’t fix everything: “Every phase of your life has beauty in it. We all want youth, but at some point we have to realize that we’re getting older and it’s not all about foundation or mascara. If you eat and live wrong, it will have an impact on your looks. You know the tricks:?Eat more vegetables, stop smoking, drink water and cut back on alcohol.”

On color
: “It took 24 tries in the lab before we got the right shade for Le Vernis in June. I wanted it to be the color of this plastic bag handle I got from some random shop in the States. The bag was black and the handle was this beautiful orange plastic. It had to be that exact shade, but in lacquer. It had to look just like the plastic, not transparent or pearly.”

Chanel Links: Big Giant Update!

Lots of Chanel news the past month that I didn’t get to post for one reason or another but is still post-worthy – check out my round-up of not-to-be-missed Chanel news….

coco chanel la pausa foyer

Last August I mentioned that Coco Chanel’s vacation home, La Pausa, was for sale.  Well, it’s been scooped up off the market for an undisclosed amount but the property was listed for about €40 million.  Riviera Times

There has been some controversy about the crystal cuffs shown at the Chanel Fall 2012 show – some say that Chanel ripped off Pamela Love.  I don’t think they did anything intentional but Chanel has refused to produce the cuffs.  Whatever. I don’t think the Pamela Love cuffs are all that original – they’re fancy versions of flea market crystal jewelry (just my 2 cents).  Fashionista

Word on the street is that Chanel has received approval to design a new store on Bond Street in London that will also be the new U.K. headquarters for the brand. You can bet there will be some cool exclusive product and parties when this boutique opens up. Vogue UK
