Zoe Kravitz in Chanel Fall-Winter 2011/2012 Ready-to-Wear

zoe kravitz in chanel at unicef snowflake ball

Earlier this week Zoe Kravitz attended the 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball in dress from the Chanel Fall-Winter 2011/2012 Ready-to-Wear collection.  I think she looks nice in the dress and is age appropriate but her hair – especially her bangs – are killing me.  How do you wear a Chanel dress and then go out with your hair like that?  I don’t get it.  What do you think?

I also noticed that on the runway version the dress is shorter, has a belt and does not have the black detail on the sleeves.  I think the runway version is nicer.  I don’t think those details make a huge difference in the overall look of the dress but they are still noticeable.  Do you think those small details make a big difference?

Emma Stone in Chanel Haute Couture at The Help Los Angeles Premiere

emma stone in chanel couture at the help premiereEmma Stone looked stunning in Chanel Haute Couture, from the Spring-Summer 2011 collection, for the Los Angeles premier of The Help.  The dress is relatively unchanged from the runway version though it looks a tad longer.  Emma Stone matched her dress with a Chanel purse and Chanel Fine jewelry and nude pumps which elongated her leg.   Her soft makeup and ginger locks were a beautiful complement to the dress.  I’m not sure if it’s just a lighting issue, but the color of the dress looks different on the red carpet.  On the runway, the chiffon looked grey, while on the red carpet it looks greenish-grey.  Not sure if it’s the same color or not but both look lovely.

Anne Hathaway’s Chanel Beauty Look at the “One Day” Premiere

anne hathaway new york premiere one day

Last week Anne Hathaway looked stunning on the red carpet at the New York premiere of One Day.  Chanel Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee works with Anne Hathaway regularly and she created this red carpet look.  Here’s how she created the look:

Annie wore a black Alexander McQueen resort collection gown with gold embroidery. The dress had a great structure to it, so we wanted to keep the look cute, young and casual.

For her face, I started with CHANEL Perfection Lumière Long Wear Makeup SPF 10 (launching October 2011), which I swept across Annie’s skin and perfected with a sponge.

On her eyes, I used Burberry sheer eye shadow in Antique Rose, which is a purplish brown that defined her socket line. I drew a thin line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir at the base of the lashes, top and bottom, and also inside of the waterline to give an ink pot effect. Then over the top, with a small natural fiber brush, I padded CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique which I took to the outer corner, blending a tiny amount under the eye to soften the shape.

I curled the lashes with the new CHANEL Precision Eyelash Curler and coated her lashes with a few strokes of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara…then a few extras were added for even more intensity! Her brows were slicked into place with Anastasia Brow Gel.

I defined her cheek bones with Kevin Aucoin shading colour in Medium and I finished her look by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fetiche on the lips.

Perfection Lumière Long Wear Makeup SPF 10 (launching October 2011), $55.00
Intense Eye Pencil in Noir, $29.00
Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique, $36.00
Precision Eyelash Curler, $34.00
Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fetiche, $32.00

Olivia Wilde in Chanel Beauté at “Cowboys & Aliens” Premiere

Olivia Wilde in Chanel Beauté at "Cowboys & Aliens" Premiere

Over the weekend, the summer blockbuster Cowboys & Aliens premiered. I have to admit, the juxtaposition of cowboys with aliens is like taking two genres and mashing them up together so I’m quite curious about this move. But I digress. The real news is that Olivia Wilde is starting in the film and she wore a Chanel Beauté look to the premiere created by Celebrity Makeup Artist Melanie Ingelssis. Her romantic look was beautiful – especially paired with Ms. Wilde’s lace gown. Here’s a breakdown from the makeup artist herself on how she created Olivia’s look – and how you can replicate it.

This weekend, Celebrity Makeup Artist Melanie Ingelssis created Olivia Wilde’s red carpet look for the premiere of one of summer’s hottest new movies, “Cowboys and Aliens”.  To off-set Olivia’s romantic gown and simple hair, Melanie and Olivia decided the focus of the beauty look would be on the eyes. Using CHANEL products, Melanie created a strong smoky eye balanced by soft, luminous skin.

To enhance Olivia’s gorgeous baby blues, Melanie began by using CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil to create the shape of the smoky eye, but kept it true to Olivia’s shape as opposed to taking it out too much. She then rimmed her entire eyes, including the inside of the waterline with a thick line, also using the soft, easy-to-use kohl pencil. She then used Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadow in Mirifique, a new long-wearing, shimmering cream eyeshadow from CHANEL, all over Olivia’s lids to create a black base. She took the cream shadow up to the crease of Olivia’s eyes and underneath, blending it with the kohl pencil so there were no harsh lines.  With a black shadow, she redefined the outer and inner areas of the eyes that needed to be darker, creating a sexy and smudgy look. Finally, according to Melanie, “the trick to a beautiful smoky eye is blending, so I took a clean blending brush – with no color on it – and with one motion, I blended the upper and lower colors together.” To complete the look, Melanie curled Olivia’s lashes and added two coats of Inimitable Intense Mascara.

Melanie began prepping Olivia’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage Regenerating Fluid to give her complexion a radiant glow. She followed with Mat Lumière Makeup SPF 15 which she chose for the foundation’s long-lasting formula. She then highlighted Olivia’s face with CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Fluid.

CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadow in Mirifique, $36.00
CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir, $28.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid, $295.00
CHANEL Mat Lumière Long Lasting Makeup SPF 15, $54.00
CHANEL Sheer Illuminating Fluid in Sunkissed, $48.00
All available at CHANEL department and specialty stores and chanel.com

Jennifer Aniston in Chanel Beauté for Horrible Bosses Premiere

jennifer aniston in chanel beaute for horrible bosses premiereThis movie looks really funny – I can’t wait to see it!  Word below straight from Chanel on how the look was achieved and how you can get the look…

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist, Angela Levin not only created Jennifer Aniston’s sultry beauty look for this summer’s hottest new comedy, Horrible Bosses, she also created the world’s most recognized and beloved actress’s look for the UK premiere of the movie.

While Angela created an edgy, sexy look for Jennifer’s character, the love-deprived Dr. Julia Harris, she and Jennifer decided to contrast that seductive look with a classic, elegant appearance for the red carpet. Instead of creating, bold “come-hither” smoky eyes, Angela used softer colors from the newest collection of Illusion D’Ombre Eyeshadows from CHANEL. Mixing shimmering white and khaki shades from the new line, Angela delicately applied the colors to Jennifer’s lids. Angela then used darker shades to create a very muted, fading smoky eye which made Jennifer’s blue eyes standout on the red carpet. Angela finished by applying two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense mascara which gave a bit of drama to the entire look.

Jennifer’s lips were adorned with one of the hottest new products from CHANEL, Rouge Coco Shine. Angela used a pearlized, nude beige shade which gave a dashing hint of color and sparkle to the lips. Lastly, to make sure Jennifer’s skin was glamorously supple, Angela applied CHANEL Sublimage La Crème to all exposed parts of her body and added a hint of shine with a golden skin illuminator.

Products Used:

CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Eyeshadows in Fantasme and Epatant, $32.00 each.
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Prelude, $57.00
CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir, $30.00
CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Canotier, $32.00
CHANEL Sublimage La Crème Texture Supreme, $390.00
All available at CHANEL department and specialty stores and chanel.com

Cameron Diaz in Chanel Spring 2011 RTW at Bad Teacher NY Premier

cameron diaz in chanel at ny bad teacher premierCameron Diaz wore a dress from the Chanel Spring 2011 Ready-to-Wear collection to the NY premier of Bad Teacher.  She opted for pumps instead of boots and her bare legs make the dress look much shorter than the runway version.  She also opted for a black bra under the sheer bodice which I’m not sure I like.  I have to say that I like the runway look a lot more – I love the jacket and chunky necklace.  It’s too hot for the jacket in NYC but a statement necklace and a pair of stiletto booties would have made the look more polished on Cameron.

Blake Lively in Chanel Haute Couture at LA Premiere of Green Lantern

blake lively in chanel haute couture at green lantern premiere

Blake Lively is using her Chanel connections to the fullest getting decked out in Chanel at any opportunity – and who can blame her?!  In her latest red carpet appearance at the LA Green Lantern Premiere, Blake livened up the red carpet in a white Chanel Haute Couture gown.  I went through the Spring 2011 collection and I didn’t see it in the runway picks so it may be couture in the truest sense of the word and made just for her.  The white sheer gown with floral applique looked lovely on Mlle. Lively.  I usually have a pet peeve for sheer bottom dresses but if you have legs like Blake then you can get away with it.

I love that she paired the dress with gold accessories especially the piled on bracelets and the gorgeous camellia in her hair.  Her hair and makeup were really simple and pretty.  The disheveled side braid is a refreshing take on red carpet hair.  I think this one of Blake’s best looks – what do you think?
