12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Sport

You can’t get anything with the double-C’s on it – but you can get ALMOST anything with the Chanel logo on it!  Each season, Chanel produces a fun sports item to go along with its collection.  Past favorites include a fishing reel, guitar case and bicycle.  Made for truly those who have money to burn, (or are fashion/sports fanatics) you can add to your Chanel collection by rounding it out with some sports items.  From surfing to skiing, from tennis to basketball, you can play in style with Chanel sports accessories.

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Glasses

Chanel glasses are another one of those “gateway” products – they’re relatively easy on the wallet and are a great introduction to the brand.  Producing both sun and optical glasses, Chanel glasses always finish off a look with elegance.  They have frames that are very classic and simple and they also release frames that are over the top complete with fantasy fur.  The kind of frames you get are up to you.  I myself have been known to buy Chanel sunglasses and convert them into optical glasses.  Don’t be afraid to be creative.  But, be advised, the Chanel boutiques get exclusives that department stores and Sunglass Huts don’t sell and boutique exclusives go fast.  I’m especially loving the simple aviator frames with chain detail – so classic but with a very Chanel twist!

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Films

Coco Chanel is one of the most intriguing women of the 20th Century.  Since it’s difficult to get a hold of interviews of Mademoiselle (especially if you don’t read French), I love to watch films about Gabrielle Chanel.  Of course, they are movies and artistic license is applied liberally, but it’s nice to see her come to life if only for a few hours.  I also love seeing the clothing and the sets – a bit like seeing history repeat itself – and getting a glimpse of the time period in which she lived.

All three of the films are good in their own way but very different:  Chanel Solitaire was the very first and is only available on VHS, Coco Before Chanel documents Chanel’s rise to fame and Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky follows an illicit love affair later in Chanel’s career.  I’ve seen all three and my favorite is Coco Before Chanel but they are all worth watching.  These DVDs would make a great gift or stocking stuff for any fashion or movie buff and are available on Amazon.com.

12 Days of Chanel: Chanel Shoes

From your fingertips to your toes, Chanel has something drool-worthy for all of your digits.  Chanel shoes run the gamut of very practical flats to shoes with guns (fake of course) as heels.  From super classic to over-the-top, Chanel has a shoe for every personality.  They don’t come cheap, but if these are in your budget, or if you have to save up your Christmas money for a few seasons, these shoes are definitely worth it because they will never go out of style.

Chanel is ahead of the curve as far as nail lacquer goes.  With trend setting colors Vamp, Jade, and Blue Satin, wearing the latest Chanel Le Vernis is a sure fire way to keep a look current.  At $24-28 a bottle (depending on how limited the color is) Chanel Nail Colour is the “gateway drug” of a Chanel addiction – one that may lead to purchases of fragrance, shoes, bags and accessories!  Le Vernis make a great gift or stocking stuffer – just be sure to get those limited edition colors fast!

12 Days of Chanel: Brooches

Nothing says ladylike elegance like a brooch. Added almost anywhere, a brooch can jazz up an ensemble and give you a polished look. Most often found on lapels, you can add a brooch to sweater sets, blazers, or outerwear. You can even fashion a hairpiece, or update a belt or fasten a scarf with a brooch. Every season Chanel releases at least one Camelia brooch and one double-C brooch. A Chanel brooch is a lovely way to add a bit of luxury to your looks without breaking the bank.
